Built in 1840 the pub overlooks the rolling Sussex countryside. Locally sourced beers, cider and sparkling wine always available as well as a high quality seasonal menu using local produce. Light bites, pub classics are ever present. The lovely front gard
We have been here many times before, but don't think we will be going again. We originally sat outside since it was sunny and menu looked rather limited so went to order soup and dessert only to be told we couldn't order dessert then but had to wait till we finished the main ...We moved inside but the place was full of flies, they said they had 'sprayed that morning' but obviously had no effect on the fly population. One went in my coffee so I just left it.A long wait to get our desserts, it's not as if they were hot.Overall, £40 for two soups, two desserts, two soft drinks and two coffees seemed a bit steep for what we received. £6 for a soup ??

The Old Mill is a fantastic pub with open log fires, outdoor dining areas and a working water wheel. The pub serves a great selection of the well renowned and award winning Harveys cask ales as well as an extensive wine list. We offer traditional hearty B
We have eaten here several times, and trust them to produce tasty food with very drinkable wine. OK it is pub grub rather than pretensious and over-priced so-called fine dining (if that is your thing I could name three establishments within a three mile radius, all of which have given me pains in the backside when I tried them). But horses for courses, Dunnings Old Mill is a winner.Thank you for taking time out to review us.Our food is is produced using fresh ingredients daily.Next time your in make sure you try our daily specials.Wine Wednesday buy two large glasses the rest of the bottle is free.Look out for new wine list in November See you again soon. Booked a table for Sunday lunch. Very busy, looked after and shown to table. Ordered drinks and looked at menu. Good selection, chose roast pork. The meat and crackling were very good, with roast potatoes but was rather lacking in vegetables, a few tiny pieces of carrot and a very small amount of cauliflower cheese. As place was busy didn't want to make a fuss and the meal itself was very tasty. The pudding was great as well, Eton mess. Well looked after by host but felt a little let down by lack of vegetables.Overall would recommend Sunday lunch.

16Th Century Inn in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, West Sussex. Locally source ingredients used for the menu, which is seasonal. Local beers also sold. Extensive wine list, many available by the glass. Significant number of Sussex sparkling wine
We were visiting the bluebell railway for the day and looked for somewhere near to round off the day. The reviews for the Cat were consistently good and we took reveiwerâs advice and booked a table. We were not disappointed! Everything was as reviewerâs described. Service, quality of food, range of beers and wines were all brilliant. The vegetables and the pie were particularly well cooked and delicious. Good quality âgastrio pubâ but with a proper old fashioned local pub ambience and atmosphere.

First impressions are crucial. We were waited upon by a brisk, snotty barmaid (or landlady?), who was either (a) stupid, (b) rude or (c) had a hearing problem. The pub was very quiet and the order was very simple - â a bottle of still mineral water, no lemon, just iceâ The barmaid actually repeated the order, but I received âsparklingâ (a misnomer as it turned out) water, lemon and no ice. Sheâd poured it before I had a chance to stop her and I decided Iâd drink it anyway - it was vile - flat and metallic tasting and had clearly been around for some time. Two swigs was enough and I left the rest. Yes , we could have complained, but the service and the lack of ambiance ensured that we were going to leave toute suite. This lack of attention was disconcerting in a very quiet pub which isnât very picturesque with little outside space. Definitely wonât be back!We were very upset to hear you were not given the correct water or attention to service on this occasion. The lady that served you was not the Landlady, but one of our part time waitresses/bar staff, she was having a very bad day, and we should've made the decision and removed her from service. However this is no excuse, and we do sincerely apologise.I can assure you this is not a normal occurrence here at The Fox.

To be honest I expected more. It looks nice outside but was a little dingy coming in from the sunshine. My meal was just OK, nothing special and I actually thought for the price was rather a small portion. So, a bit of a let down on the food and ambience front but the staff were fairly friendly. On the plus side they were serving food at 5pm when other places were not serving til 6pm which is a real advantage to them as many people like to eat early or have to sometimes.Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review on our hotel. Firstly, I would like to apologise for the shortcomings in standards and service you experienced at The Roebuck and I can assure you the above comments have been taken on board. Kind Regards, Karen Perrin

Another visit, another Sunday roast, another success. A relatively new barman/manager and head chef and if possible the food and general quality of service has improved even more. It's always been one of the best pubs we've visited but this last visit was possibly the best yet! Very generous portions of the nicest roast beef you'll find anywhere with a substantial splash of gravy and all the trimmings. A must visit if you're in the area.
