Iâve come to realize that I love BLTâs. I suppose itâs because the âBâ is for âBaconâ and bacon is ⦠well ⦠awesome! To quote Jim Gaffigan, âBacon's the best, even the frying of bacon sounds like applause. (sizzling sounds) YEAAAA BACON!!!!â Well they have a really great BLT sandwich at Doc Ryanâs. And, if that was the only thing to rate them on, theyâd get 5 stars. I also had the chili which looked great, but ended up a little too soupy and bland. I asked for some jalapenos, which they were happy to provide, and that improved it, but not to the point that Iâd order it again. Itâs a solid bar, but needs some major improvements. To me, chairs without backs are just not comfortable. The tables, walls, bathroom, etc. need to be refinished / remodeled. As of this writing there are ninety-six restaurants in Elmhurst. I plan on eating at, and reviewing, every one. For a complete list of Elmhurst restaurants see my list at 'eatingelmhurst.blogspot.comâ

Was there last night for dinner with my spouse. The service was from Timothy decent and attentive but, we know it's busy but you can at least wipe the table for us! I had to borrow a napkin from a fellow diner to wipe our table after we helped clear it. The food was pretty decent as usual. We will of course go back. Next time we want to try their be Mac and Cheese with buffalo chicken in it!

We happened to enter through the parking lot - shortest distance to outdoor tables because one of us was in a post-surgery leg brace. Although there were at least three servers buzzing around us, no one addressed us for too long a time. Finally, I went to get a server who instructed me to "check in" inside next time. And there happens to be a sign inside that states, "Please Seat Yourself." (Go figure) When we did get service, it was fine, the menu is varied, the food and drinks were very good, the pricing was reasonable.

Nothing fancy here, just a good old American bar with a great beer selection and extensive menu. Had a Friday night dinner party and Saturday appetizers here and was not disappointed. 20 or so beers on draft and probably another 30 in bottles and cans, wines however were nothing special, but it's a watering hole not a tasting room. Service was good both days and food, tasty- try the loaded tater tots, and my fish and chips were also good. Liked the local joint feel not to mention good food and great beer.
I have known this place since the day it opened. It still warms my heart every time I walk in. The family and staff are wonderful people. Excellent specials for lunch. Great tuna melt. Awesome chili. Just a comfortable neighborhood bar. Feels like Cheers.

The flight of their craft beers is a good place to start, even if like me, you haven't been a big craft beer person for awhile. There are some genuinely great beers on tap and some surprises/risks (cold brew coffee in your beer? YES! it's great actually) The food menu is solid, as well. Options for a broad spectrum of preferences, wings to hummus, mussels to prime rib, veggie pita to cheeseburger. (Mussels are stellar and the buffalo chicken sandwich was outstanding) Great ambience/décor/vibe inside and I've had the pleasure of great musicians when I have been on nights with an acoustic guitar on stage. There is also an upper balcony/upstairs that appears good for larger groups.Kudos to the management for the play area for kids! Finally, can't wait to see what the outdoor area is like in warmer weather and will be more of a regular here.

Excellent food but very expensive food. $14.99 for a burger and fries is ridiculous. $11.00 Mac n cheese ? That being said, the food is really good. They know what they are doing with their smoked meats. The Ribs were delicious. Not fall of the bone boiled like a portillos, you have to chew them off the bone, WHICH I LIKE. $65.00 for lunch for 3 is nuts especially when none of us drank any alcohol. They have so many different beers it is crazy. I may return, but only if someone else is paying, lol. I'm not a cheapskate, I just assign a certain value to certain foods, and this place is at the top of my threshold of being too expensive for what it is.

Like stepping into a Northwoods supper club. Friendly atmosphere and old world decor are combined with all the standard dinner options including a passable Sunday brunch and better than average Friday Fish Fry -- all highlighted by a pleasant garden view.
