We had dinner last night at Herd as my husband wanted to visit Chris Barron, a bar tender, that he knew from Wallingford. Our dinner was early, 5:00 and our reservation really wasnât needed. The bar became busy, but the dining room had just a few parties at that time. Our waitress, Nancy, was excellent. She was personable and efficient, timing our meal perfectly and checking on us a few times to be sure all was well. Happy Hour went until 7:00, so our glasses of wine were $5.00. My husband had the onion soup which was steaming hot and tasty and I ordered the eggplant frites which were good and enough to share for a small group. We brought some home. Next we had salads that were pretty large for a house salad. Mine had a bit too much dressing so next time Iâd order the dressing on the side. Our meals were the rib eye steak and a special for the night, chicken Marsala. Both delicious and served with potatoes, mashed or sweet, and tiny green beans. The steak was large and done perfectly. We shared a dessert special of blueberry cheesecake that was light and fluffy. It was a excellent meal for two for a reasonable price. The dining room is a bit stark, aiming for a western âherdâ of cattle ambiance with unusual lighting, herding photos, and dark beams. It was a bit chilly where we sat as each time someone opened the door there was a breeze, even with heavy curtains to try to block it. So weâd request seating further back next time. Actually, the front faces Metro Square so itâs a bit tricky to find, but parking is very convenient. We chatted a few minutes with the bar tender, Chris and were glad we tried this new dining option. Give this restaurant a try!

Always a good sandwich. My wife wanted their old Asian salad . It was not on the menu anymore but our waitress made one up for her. How is that for service. Wow what a great waitress. Sorry forgot her name but she once went to culinary school.

The food that I had was nothing to write home about I felt like all of the seafood was overcooked and somewhat dry. It wasn't horrible but I wouldn't trade it highly. They have a very large menu and lots of items to pick from. We're so sorry to hear about your disappointing experience at this location. Would you mind reaching out through our contact us page with your name, phone number and email address so we may personally follow up with you? This restaurant is located inside the Four Points by Sheraton in Meriden, CT.
Ate here while staying at the hotel. The hours are longer than posted on the hotel's website in case you're arriving later than 10pm. Gary the bartender was really friendly. The food was good and the menu was mostly bar food. Good fries.

The Tavern is bar and restaurant at the same time. While we were having dinner a large group came to drink at the bar. They were quite loud.We ordered the lamb and lobster ravioli and asked the waitress to choose two local beers for us. She served us a dark and a light beer, locally brewed. Both excellent. The lamb was cooked to perfection. I also liked the mashed potatoes that came with it and the undercooked string beans (better under than over cooked. But if you want all your customers to be happy maybe you should just cook them 1 minute more ;-). No room for desert. An herbal tea to finish the excellent meal.Service really friendly. Prices on the higher end for a bar meal.Thank you for your comments about your dining experience. We have just renovated the tavern and we are looking at ways to muffle the noise a bit like you experienced. We went from carpeting to all hardwood floors and there is more echoing. It is being addressed. I agree there is a fine line between under cooked / raw and overcooked and we try to be perfect. Overall is seems like you enjoyed the evening.

Lunch in the library was great! The old building is beautiful and the library touches like: the beer tap handles were covered in old book jackets and the bill comes inside a hollowed out book, were perfect! For lunch we had a thinly sliced steak sandwich and a BLT, both came with delicious side salads! Will try it again for Happy Hour and or dinner!

Sliders is a small local chain of restaurants / sports bar specializing in wings. I have been to several of the locations and was excited to have one in my town.We arrived about 5:30 on their opening day to find the parking lot packed. We were able to park next door due to the later hour. Inside the dining room had plenty of tables. When I poked my head into the bar area I saw that most every seat was taken as were the tables and was surprised to see an older crowd sitting around the bar. What I really liked was that the dining room was relatively quiet - even with all of the people in the nearby rooms. Conversations were easy as we didn't need to yell. Our waitress, Shannon, was friendly and personable which only added to our experience. We let her know that we were in no hurry and understood that it was opening day and expected there to be a bit of a longer wait. Our food (wings) came and they were on par with the best tasting I have had. Generous with the sauce too. Can't wait to go back!

Celtic is a very special place, and always my first choice for both dining or grabbing a drink at the bar, with family or friends, for social or business. The food is unbelievable (thanks, Bill), and the house is the friendliest ever (thanks, Brandon). And the staff is professional, attentive, and just fun and welcoming. Too many to list - but Lauren, Chris, Sara, Kasey, Lexi, Courtney, Ang, Mea,Taylor, to start. - thanks guys!

My wife and I had dinner here last Saturday. We had a reservation but it was not necessary. They were about halfway full at 7pm. We were greeted and seated promptly. There was a good choice of beer and wine.Drinks came and we ordered. Actually several of the servers stopped at different times to make sure that everything was OK. Clam chowder was excellent, mussels were good.Entrees of hanger steak and crab po boy were both very good. Service was excellent. A good meal with no complaints.Dress is fairly casual. There was a three man band playing.
