Had a very good lunch here. Ordered the prawn sandwich and chips. The sandwich was so scrumny. Very good value for money. The bar inside is really lovely. Outside garden is good for people who do not want to eat inside. Highly recommended.

The food was good, we all enjoyed our choices but the service is slow over the weekend as the place is very busy and very popular. Book in advance

Proper British Pub with good value home cooked food (Bar & Kids menu + Specials-Boards) with a good sellection of Ales and Wines etc' We welcome well-behaved children, but ask parents & guardians to keep them under control and out of Bar areas. Dogs are a
Forget all the nobby fashionable eatery's in kingsdown -- this is the one - top notch food and excellent well kept beers -- been going years --- we're local and visit once a month ish . An exceptional place where the owners know how to please and keeps the ales in tip top condition. No good for DFLs as the prices are reasonable and the road is narrow so Chelsea tractors will have to park on the seafront.Thank you for that nice review.

Good food. Nice friendly waiting staff. However possibly the slowest ever meal. Starter and main course each took around 50 minutes to arrive. Had to ask three times for mayonnaise for my grandson which only arrived when the meal was finished. However the staff brought him some more fries, apologised later for the slowness and gave us a suitable discount. My attitude is that stuff happens, and if generally cheery people try to make amends, then all is forgiven. I'd certainly be prepared to give the place a second chance

Beautiful country pub cooking fresh to order food. Eat in our bright restaurant overlooking the garden, in the bar area or in the garden. Extremely well stocked bar. We cater for meat lovers, vegetarians, allergies and children. We are also dog friendly.
Visited this pub/restaurant for Sunday lunch with my family which included two small children. The atmosphere of the restaurant was good and the staff were efficient and friendly. It was perfect for the children who amused themselves in the garden where there was plenty to do, including a bouncy castle. However the food rather disappointed. There was no mention of the menu on their website so we went into the meal completely âblindâ. As a non- meat eater I was surprised to find no fish dishes on the main menu and only one as a âspecialâ - which I didnât fancy. So I opted for two starters - prawn cocktail and smoked salmon. When it arrived the prawn cocktail was a surprise. Iâm sure that the presentation was meant to look âcheffyâ, but to me (and my wife, who had the same) it looked a mess. There were only four prawns, covered in quite a basic Marie Rose sauce, and a little salad For this we were charged the princely sum of £7.95 ! Scandalous ! I had made a prawn cocktail starter for a dinner party the week before, which comprised 10 prawns per portion, on a bed of watercress, soused cucumber and avocado with a much tastier sauce for less than £1.50 a head.My second starter was beetroot cured smoked salmon on a herby scone. The salmon tasted of smoked salmon (no trace of beetroot) the scone was dry and tasteless and the portion was minute. To bulk this up I had a portion of very nice (but over-priced) chips.Iâve based my three star assessment on the ambience, friendliness of the staff and itâs child-friendliness. But the food was very disappointing, and in my opinion, overpriced. I wonât be visiting again !

Visited on BH Monday with friends. Always use the Kings Head as opposed to the Port Arms or Dunkerleys despite the distinct lack of of any kind of organised bar service, and always having to queue forever in disorganised chaos! Bought 2nd round of drinks - exactly the same as 1st round - charged £3.00 less. Queried it with barman & was told very abruptly 'if we wanted it sorted to come back tomorrow' Obviously not an option. Asked to speak to manager - guy called Jamie. Very rude, no customer service skills at all and was not in the slightest bit interestd in sorting it out... as if it is normal to be knowingly overcharged and not to question it or waste their time.He offered no apology but shoved £3.00 at me and told me ...'next time you come to Deal find a different pub to drink in ...!!' All this because his staff overcharged me and I had the 'cheek' to question it!If this is how they operate with every customer on busy days - profits must fly through the roof!To make matters worse - there is a large notice on the bar from Graham, asking customers to be polite to his bar staff!!Perhaps its time to train your staff in the art of customer service and its importance!I would suggest you start with Jamie.I will add that although we always support the Kings Head and Grahams many charity events as do many of our friends - we will take Jamies advice - and sadly will not be returning to the Kings Head.

If you are charging £13.00 for a hot dog with no cheese , onions or chips it had better be the best Hot dog ever.Well it wasn`t the sausage did not even fill the bun and putting some sliced gherkin on the top with mustard and ketchup is no where near enough. My wife had the open halloumi sandwich which was also underwhelming .Dear Matthew Sorry to read you were left disappointed with your meal. I can't tell from your review, or our booking system, which day/night you were in and we had nothing on our daily reports to indicate any customers were dissatisfied with these particular menu choices. Our hot dog is indeed one of our most popular items on the menu. I would always encourage customers to let us know of any issues at the time and we'd endeavour to make your experience better. Perhaps you'll give us another try in the future and we can change your mind. Best regards

Took a chance on this from a quick Google search and definitely do not regret it! Absolutely delicious food and they had a LOVELY still rhubarb cider. The hunters BBQ chicken burger didn't scrimp on the bacon (which made for a delightful change compared to some places), the sharing desert was enough for 3 comfortably and the staff were friendly and up for a good laugh. Felt very homely and comfortable. Definitely going to return!!Thank you very much for taking the time to write us this great 5 Bubble Review. Our Rhubarb cider is a new addition to our drinks menu and is proving extremely popular. We are very pleased that you enjoyed the Hunters Burger and the sharing sundae. We are very lucky with our dedicated, friendly staff who are definitely always up for a laugh! Thank again and we look forward to seeing you again soon from all the team at The Coach & Horses.

A traditional pub with a courtyard garden in picturesque Alfred Square just 100 yards from the seafront and High Street. Delicious home cooked food, real ales and a varied wine list. All dogs receive a welcome biscuit!
I attended a âlive music quizâ at this pub (first Thursday of the month) and it was terrific fun. The Quiz master actually performed the questions for the quiz live rather than using CDâs or whatever. He was also very handsome and came across as humble and kind. David the landlord is a likeable chap with one fatal flaw, he is a Spurs fan. I canât decide if thatâs funny or tragic, as spurs havenât won a trophy for over a decade and not won the league since colour tv was invented. In conclusion, a lovely pub which is well worth a visit. Many thanks for this, the music quiz is great fun. I like to tease the quizmaster by suggesting he lacks a little self confidence! Although Iâm an avid Spurs fan we welcome supporters of all clubs, especially Arsenal fans who could do with cheering up. The next quiz is Thursday 7th March, I look forward to seeing you there.
