Reviews on Bar food in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. There are 2,000 years of history in Cologne, and visitors here will find everything from Roman towers to Gothic churches to fine examples of modern architecture. Cologne has a variety of museums, too—check out the Museum of Applied Art, the Museum Ludwig and, if you have a sweet tooth, the Chocolate Museum. Be forewarned, though—the gift shop at the latter will utterly ruin your diet.

Typical german restaurant with homemade food and excellent quality.Right in the center of Cologne and directly at the cathedral.
We went to this Restaurant a few time during our stay in Cologne. Each time food was delicious. One my last visit I had the veal in Gyspy sauce, it was fab. The staff and service is so friendly and helpful. The Man who served us went out of his way to make sure everything was ok. He was friendly and polite and made us feel welcome. We will definitely be back when we next visit Cologne.

4 of us dined here on 7th March 2019. A very friendly place and very popular with all ages, it seems, as there was a queue forming outside a little later. Food was clearly cooked to order and of course we all enjoyed a couple of glasses of Kölsch. The beef burgers were juicy, there was a choice of types of bun and fries. My colleague paid, but I gather that the price was good, with typical German value for money!

In my experience this kind of place hardly disappoints. Indeed, it often exceeds your expectations. Like Fruh. Fast service, waiters who manage to smile despite the many miles they walk up and down ... good food and good beer. A paradise for those who love this cuisine. Close to the Dom and of ancient origin, this place is very characteristic, a horizontal and vertical labyrinth worth a visit. The price you pay is honest, especially if you have the misfortune to compare it with how much you will pay in other restaurants to have much less. Prost!!

We have not eaten there YET, but would love to, next visit to Cologne. We went in for a late night hot drink the day before my birthday. We considered eating there for my birthday, reasons being it was a very cosy, friendly little place but we had booked somewhere else bigger. The next day though, my birthday, after our dinner elsewhere, we returned to Herings just for a last birthday drink. The proprietor brought my drink out with a party piece sparkler & sang me a happy birthday, husband in tow! Was so nicely done. When my husband came to pay the bill,he was told there was nothing to pay, as it was my birthday! Inspiring little place. I wish I HAD Chosen there to eat now. Their review ratings are 67 out of over 2,000 reviews! Must be good, as good as their service. Lovely, lovely little place with smiling staff. Makes for such a great atmosphere.

We were quite pleased to be able to reserve a large table for 11 only 6 hours before dining. Only negative ... very long waits for drinks and service. However, the place was completely packed at 6:30 pm, in the middle of high season. Food was typical for a Brauhaus - schnitzels, wursts, etc. I was the only one adventurous enough to try âHummel un Ãädâ (Heaven and Earth) - a local favorite, comprising a mixture of fried black pudding with onions, apples and bacon. Not for the faint of heart, certainly. One of the richest tasting dishes Iâve ever had, and Iâm not sure Iâll get it again (though I did enjoy it). The local Sünner Kölsch went very well with it - and Iâm not a big Kölsch fan. Be aware that beer in Cologne appears to be generally served in 21 cL glasses (not the typical 33 cL), and is on the expensive side. If youâre looking for a classic Cologne culinary experience, this is the place to go.

We made a table reservation but when arriving â of the tables were empty, no tourists but locals. The furnishing is rustic. Menu list offers extensive meals. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We ordered "Schweinshaxe" and "Sauerbraten". Result: substantial. The taste of the "Schweinshaxe" was strange, the "Sauerbraten" was average with much to much gravy. So all in one: food was everage, no special quality; reasonable prices.

Two of us visited for dinner. Busy, buzzing place.Excellent, interesting menu. Had the deep fried camembert (superb) followed by the double lamb chop. Which was huge, tender and superbly well cooked. My partner had the big sausage and potatoe salad and pronounced it excellent.Fast efficient service. The very good "refill my beer glass till I say stop" method, which works well.Would definitely return

Yes, they can be rude. Yes, it is difficult to get a table. Yes, you are not âin Kansas anymoreâ ;-) but, this is one of the best pubs in all Cologne! (and easy to get to via S-Bahn)If you are looking for the best draft beer brand in Cologne (Päffgen) served fresh and cold, and the best pork chops in the whole country (double thickness, based on two ribs), then this is your place. There is a reason why people line up in front of the very old building one hour before they open!Tip: You might be able to make a reservation for 4 (or more) but only for 7pm (if you are less, just tell the waiter that the others got sick). Fun fact: The owner passed, however it is operated very well. The owner once refused to serve Bill Clinton since the secret service demanded to close the brewery for the public. Lommi, the owner, responded that we will not close his pub to his regulars just because of one person. Think about that if you get in line...
