Things to do in Callander
We are a small independently run freehouse which listens to its customers, mainly serves cask ales, promotes conversation, shuns all forms of electronic entertainment and dabbles in traditional pub snacks.
Finding somewhere like this-in a small town south of the highlands-was a joy. Proper beer, proper barman to have a chat with, wine for me, a lovely feel about the place....proper Scotland thank you.
The back bar is on the end of the town area and we called in during the day for a drink and came back in the evening for a meal..fantastic feed!! Hubby had Angus burger..best he has ever had..I had spicy chicken wrap..was amazing..and some music by Alex Clarke..he was superb...really enjoyed our night here.

We turned up here at a busy time in a group of 6 for dinner (without a booking) mid week. We were instantly offered the only large table left. Service great, so friendly and helpful, best steak pie I have eaten in a restaurant and a sticky toffee pudding that excelled!Thank you Waverley, you impressed us all. Great value, great location and a very nice dining area.

The Old Rectory Country Inn âComfortable rooms. Great Food. And a warm welcomeâ A Family business started 12 years ago saw a building - formally The Church Rectory - go through a much needed transformation and over the years has built up a reputation base
Ate here one evening as we were staying. Only ourselves and 1 other group eating. Staff very friendly and restaurant area cosy and pleasant just through from thermal bar. Standard menu had the normal choices and prices reasonable. Good sized portions which will certainly fill you up and nicely cooked. For starters we had the haggis fritters and the black pudding fritters with a sad garnish. Both nice. Mains gammon steak and smoked haddock fish cakes. The fish cakes appeared to be homemade but could have done with more smoked haddock as the predominate taste was mashed potato and chives. Te gloom was cooked well.No room left for pudding even though we wanted to try the Apple pudding!

The Byre Inn is a lovely looking pub and we found the landlady to be really nice and friendly. Sadly, the landlord likes the sound of his own voice rather too much and his constant "jokes", often at the expense of the customers, really gets on your nerves. He simply wouldn't shut up and leave us alone, even when we were trying to read. As others have mentioned on here, he needs to learn when to back off and leave customers alone. His "jokes" at our expense were the kind you might have in banter with your mates, not with someone you've just met. The meals themselves were basic and not worth the price paid. We were then overcharged (no itemised bill, so we had to work it out ourselves) and had to complain. The music is certainly eclectic, but that's okay as long as it's kept in the background. Sadly, the landlord seems to think he's some kind of DJ and plays it so loud you can't have a conversation. The pub itself is a lovely building and could be a cracking place, but it's let down by the self obsessed landlord (whom I expect to post an acidic reply to this review as he has with other poor reviews) and the incredibly high prices. £5 for a point of bitter ? Welcome to the Byre Inn, Shoreditch !We won't go over old ground. Our prices are what they are. Please refer to previous responses. Our repeat business and wonderful reviews speak for themselves. Jason interacts with all customers and goes out of his way to make guests welcome as is regularly stated in other trip advisor reviews. The fact that he didnt get on with you says more about you than him.If you want to sit and read and not socialise can I suggest spending an afternoon in the bar of a pub isn't the place to do it. Again as with other posts, we have a quiet dining room, if you make the decision to sit in the noisier bar as you did, you will hear music! Shock horror! If you want to get into an "acid attack" slagging match please come back and speak to me, the lovely landlady, who will be more than happy to accommodate you. I have a few things to say to those who smile when leaving then launch personal and bitter cyber attacks on my family via trip advisor. Unfortunately none are suitable for public viewing.

Family owned pub/restaurant offering local fresh produce in the beautiful surroundings of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Disabled accessible and family/dog friendly.
Lovely soup and great that it's dog friendly. Felt soup and baguette deal over priced for what you get- more mayo than prawn! Costs a few pound more than the baguette on it's own but without the crisps or salad. The lentil soup was very tasty though. Ate in the bar and lovely casual atmosphere but for £10 I would expect staff to bring cutlery, not walk past it several times and then tell you to get your own! Got the sense that this is a place that has become complacent on the basis of a good reputation and location but has let standards slip. On the plus side there is a car park which saves the hassle of Callander parking. Very sorry to learn you did not receive our usual efficient service. This should not have happened. Our staff are trained to bring cutlery in the bar however during busy times this may have been missed. Please accept my apologies.

An 18th century former coaching inn providing good Scottish food, drinks and accommodation. Live music throughout the year on Saturdays and Scottish/Irish on Sundayâs June to September
A very old traditional establishment in Callander recently under new management. Mhor fish gets all the crit for its fish suppers but i honestly think the crown is better. Situated at the heart of main st.this quaint pub/ hotel/ restaurant has been a quality place for all of my 60 years visiting Callander. It has a great menu including a very good traditional steak pie. Staff are friendly and welcoming. If you are on a 3 night stay and eat here, the Waverley and chinese village, you will be well satisfied . Enjoy!!
