My future daughter in law and myself were busy wedding dress shopping and popped in The Lounge in between appointments. We found a table and was quickly attended by the owner and advised we needed something quick and could he accommodate. He said that wouldn’t be a problem and sure enough tour food and drinks arrived very promptly. Not only that but the food was delicious. My future daughter in law can only eat gluten free but the choice was very good. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you get and I will certainly pay a visit again.Thank you to all staff and management

When we booked we were told that they would need the table back by 8.30 which is understood. However whilst there we were reminded constantly and eventually felt completely pushed out. I spoke to the manager and told him we had waited 50 minutes between starters and main course. He said that we hadn't and he had checked with the kitchen. So I am a liar apparently. He wasn't interested and we left without having a desert or time to think. Last time we came, we had a superb Sunday Lunch and I scored a 5. This time the food was average and the management attitude shocking. Only consolation was a lovely lady who served us and seemed embarrassed by the whole thing. I don't care who the manager checked with, we know how long we waited between courses. Will not be back!!

After waiting over forty minutes in a near empty restaurant ( yes, that should have alerted us!) we went to find the waitress to order. From arriving as booked it took one hour and ten minutes to get our main meal. As most of us were on parking meters this caused some anxiety. Two meals got sent back as they were cold. One other meal wasnt eaten at all, my crushed peas were stone cold. All served on cold, very chipped plates. Went to find my own salt and pepper. I would have complained about my stone cold peas but with only one waitress running up and down the stairs with the sent back meals, there was no-one to complain to. This is not particularly cheap food so I expected better basics, like hot and timely food. Pudding was OK but not enough custard on it. Very disappointing group outing. Won’t be returning.

We ate here with friends as we just wanted a pub meal and a couple of drinks. The pub itself is nice enough and the young waitress was friendly and helpful. There’s a really good selection on the menu, particularly as we don’t eat meat, there was lots of choice. It’s such a shame that the chips aren’t homemade as this would have made such difference. Overall, the food was ok and both the food and drink was decent value. We would return but a few tweaks would make this place so much better - real chips, nicer wine glasses and more choice of beer and wines. Moretti or San Miguel would be great!Hi, We are glad that you enjoyed the menu selection and we are happy that we met your dietary requirements. We pride ourselves on making sure everything on our menu is homemade and fresh food. We would like to assure you that our chips are peeled & hand-cut on site everyday! We currently stock 11 wines, and 13 beers, including our 5 cask ales, so as you can see we are trying to make sure there is a good selection for all to enjoy. However we welcome the feedback and are always looking for ways to keep our customers happy! We hope to see you again soon. Regards, The Black Bull.

Visited this restaurant on a week day, the place was empty when we arrived so we were surprised when were taken up stairs to a table. We assumed this was so casual drop in diners could see if the restaurant was busy or not. Decor really nice and tasteful in greys, loved the industrial lighting and on point vases, floral arrangement etc. My friend and i opted for the main menu as neither of us fancied anything on the special menu.My friend had the prawn & smoked salmon starter , I opted for the black pudding, we had the smaller portion for our mains, my friend the meat pie, chips and mushy peas, and I had the fish and chips with mushy peas. Both very nice and hot, my fish was especially good, lovely piece of fish and not over battered. We both declined desserts. As we left we found that the restaurant was very busy& all areas seemed to be full and as this was a weekday they are doing something right. Our bill was reasonable and we vowed to re- visit. The young staff members were very pleasant and helpful, I just wish the more mature lady was a bit more engaging and welcoming..

We went to this lovely resteraunt on a whim the other day and found it changed from pub grub into a real gem. The food was superb and the atmosphere charming. I had a steak which was melt in the mouth and my partner had the fish and chips with a pea puree he enjoyed every mouthful. The sweets were equally marvellous. I would certainly have no hesitation of recommending this lovely resteraunt.Hi J8152KHmichaelsWe are absolutely thrilled to hear that your chance visit turned into a memorable experience, thank you for taking the time to leave us a sterling review! We have recently recruited a new kitchen team, so it's wonderful to hear that they are succeeding in putting their stamp on our fantastic food offering and it's being enjoyed by all our guests.
