This is a local hangout and it does a pretty good job of creating a good atmosphere for having drinks and a meal with friends. Definitely the best fish and chips in the region and not a bad hamburger either! We go here regularly and are never disappointed. Pub food but well done. Almost always open and in the summer, they take over the sidewalk with chairs and tables and it's lovely to sit outside and soak up the town of Brive.

Myself and 5 others went to visit our friend & her partner who have moved from the UK to Brive.They took us to many places, one of then being Au Bureau.It was a Monday evening & we phoned ahead to pre-book seeing as there would be 8 of us dining out. The service when we arrived was great - quite slow but very friendly. We sat outside under the gazebo & it was quite full of people, there was a great atmosphere in the air.We all started with a cocktail each (I had coco beach which was amazing), before moving on to red wine. We also were brought bottles of water for the table.We didn't have starters so went straight to main - I chose the mixed grill which consisted of Steak, Lamb & Chicken on skewers, with chips & salad. I had also ordered a side of salad as the menu didn't state this came with the meal. The chips were delicious and all was served on a funky wooden chopping board. Dessert - I chose the cafe garde; which was basically 3 random mini desserts from the menu (a meringue, creme caramel & profiterole) with a small coffee. Absolutely divine.We all enjoyed and the next time I visit my friend, we will definitely return to Au Bureau for food.

A nice friendly place to stop at night, a local bar/shop, lots of locals here. Food is good. Pasterie selection is limited, but what they have is good, and the coffee is excellent.

We stopped here for lunch on a visit to the lovely town of Brive La Gaillard. The owner very friendly and courteous to two Aussies with limited French. We ate outside on the terrace. Generous portions, prompt service. The raspberry pannacotta was especially delicious, not too sweet and very flavoursome, piquant. Recommended.

Envie dâessayer cette reprise : manque total de professionnalisme, set de table et serviettes papiers avec taches de graisse, ça commence mal. Le responsable qui au lieu dâêtre discret, beugle dâun bout à lâautre du resto et jette les plateaux sur le bar sans doute pour quâon remarque son travail. Le premier plat arrive au bout de 1heure. Salade défraîchie et pas lavée. Il faut se déplacer soit même pour avoir du sel et idem pour la moutarde. Pour finir je vais également chercher mon pichet dâeau (toujours au bout de plus 1h) et là : incroyable, le serveur prend un pichet dâun plateau sur le bar, dâune table débarrassée et le complète directement sans le vider et le rincer. Rarement vu autant dâamateurisme dans un établissement. Du coup nous sommes allés prendre un dessert à la crêperie dâà côté. Je pense quâon part de beaucoup trop loin pour que cela devienne un restaurant.

The Garden Ice Café might not be the finest nor the trendiest nor the fanciest restaurant in town, but still it is an awesome place to dine out or enjoy a couple of drinks with friends.The venue has of a superb outdoor terrace, where it is so enjoyable to sit and sip a glass of wine or two when the weather is mild/warm.

I was made aware of the restaurant by keeping an eye on the local newspaper via email (I live in the UK but I am from Brive) and I could not wait to try it. I was looking forward to some great food in a beautifully decorated environment and it did not disappoint. The menu du jour was great value for lunch (17.5 euros), one of us had that menu and really enjoyed it - very light fishcake (probably one of the best we have ever had), hachis parmentier and tarte tatin. From the a la carte menu, husband had sea bream fillets with a vegetable risotto. He loved it and I agreed with him after trying it. My mother and I had the squid also with vegetable risotto. It was perfectly cooked and it was great to have so many fresh vegetables on our plates. So many French restaurants seem to think that chips or overcooked vegetables are enough and this restaurant was delightfully different! I could not fit in a dessert but my husband had the pistachio millefeuilles. Amazing flavour. My mum went for the Mojito sorbet served with rhum and after trying it, I had to have one. We were the last people left in the restaurant and departed very happy customers.Thank you very much for your comment we really appreciated it. You will always be welcome in our restaurant.
