The village is situated 5 miles (8 km) west of Barnstaple. While not the largest village in England, it is amongst the most populous in Devon with a population at the 2011 census of 7,353 people. There are two electoral wards (East and West). Their joint population at the above census was 8,218. Within the parish is the fertile, low-lying Braunton Great Field, which adjoins the undulating Braunton Burrows, the Core Area in North Devon Biosphere Reserve, the largest psammosere (sand dune system) in England. It confronts the Atlantic Ocean at the west of the parish at the large beach of Saunton Sands, one of the South West's international-standard surfing beaches.

Booked a table here for Sunday lunch with family and our five dogs.Accessed by a narrow road but plenty of parking and road not that busy. Worth the journey.Met and shown to our table. Staff nice and friendly, place lovely and clean.Food, I ordered the pork bits in chilli and ginger as my starter. The best starter I have had in many a year. Tempura prawns was the other starter ordered and was just as good, not that either of us shared much with the others.The main meals where good too, clean plates for everyone.My wife chose the sticky toffee pudding. I was allowed a spoonful and that too was really nice.Lovely restaurant, beautiful food and with good service. Will certainly return, even if it is just for the pork bits.Thank you all.Thank you so much for your wonderful 5* review, we are so delighted you enjoyed your Sunday lunch with us. Having not been before we wanted to try their Sunday roast. We sat upstairs in the window seat on a sunny afternoon which was picture perfect. The Lamb and Vegetarian roast was superb and one of the best weâve ever eaten. The staff were helpful and efficient and we enjoyed the whole experience - highly recommended.

We go to the beaver on a regular basis as we are lucky to have a house in the village. Have not written a review for a few years now so time for an update. Itâs a great local with friendly staff with always a good atmosphere. The food has been fantastic on our last few visits and it is always consistently good. The skate wing and blackened salmon with noodles we had last night was top notch.

We stopped here with our dogs and found the menu had loads of choice for food and was really tasty. I wish I had left room for one of the many puddings they had on offer!

We visited here while on holiday in croyde. There was a great selection of different food, something for everyone! I got the lamb which was excellent, full of flavour and cooked perfectly. My partner got the chicken, which was just as good. For desert I had the cream tea and creme brûlée as I just couldnât pick! Both as good as each other. Scones seemed fresh and arrived warm. Creme brûlée come as nice big portion. Service throughout the meal was great, friendly staff and very attentive. Will definitely be returning on future holidays to croyde.

We headed to the Beachside Grill for lunch, what a wonderful location and with such beautiful views over the beach.We found the staff really friendly and the portions of food both tasty and massive!! The burgers looked good on another table so will go for those at our next visit!

Enjoyed a very enjoyable lunch here today. Staff very friendly and attentive, food delicious and some lovely autumn sunshine allowed us to sit outside with our dog. Would thoroughly recommend and look forward to visiting again!

Weâve been visiting Croyde for many years and for the last few years, weâve had evening meals at the Williams Arms in Braunton both in the carvery and in the bar and have always enjoyed the food. However, we didnât know that they are open for breakfast in the mornings and at a very reasonable price of £5.95 for a full English including toast. A hearty breakfast and good friendly service. Itâs a bigger and better breakfast than the Thatch in Croyde and at £3 cheaper, well worth the short 10 minute journey, saving £18 as there were six of us. Next time down in Croyde, we know where to go for breakfast.

Nothing above average here; the menu reads well but the dishes don't really live up to their description. I had a lovely piece of fish served a very over-powering "cassoulet" not a bean in sight! Even in a country pub, does the landlord really need to sit in his shorts eating his dinner on the patron's side of the bar when the service was lacking. Shame 'cos it's a great location and in the word of the ol' school teacher, could do better!

We booked for 14.30 expecting to find that the tables would come free but people were still arriving after three o'clock.There is a selection of local beers as well as Timothy Taylor's Landlord Bitter that has come all the way from Yorkshire!Roast beef is rather tradional for Sunday and very generous portionsThe parking outside the pub is on the small size but there is a village car park about 50 yards near to local church.Our sat nav took aan odd route that turned into a bridalway - if you come from Barnstaple, turn left in Braunton towards Croyde and then to The Rock
