We visited the Orange Tree two nights running whilst staying in Thornham, we felt the first night on the Saturday, our meal was delicious, everything weâd hoped for. Smoky bbq ribs and vegetarian Tagine, and Good value for money. Itâs a shame that the Sunday was quite different, maybe itâs what we chose, nothing really wrong with the food but so overpriced for what it was. Prawn Cocktails at £9.75 which werenât anything special and quite watery. My husband chose Scampi from the specials menu at £15 and to be honest weâve had better at a Wetherspoons for £6! I chose the fish pie priced at £17.95 and that was it. No veg, just an overpriced pie, which tasted fine, but again we felt the price was far too much for what it was. We donât mind paying for a good meal but on this occasion felt we had poor value for money, which is a shame. We Understand the area of Thornham is expensive and they can charge these prices, but just on this occasion we werenât satisfied our £80 was money well spent for two courses and two glasses of wine and one gin. Weâd give it another chance though as we really like the Orange Tree, and Thornham.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Great location to visit the Norfolk coast, villages and National Trust Houses, plus Sandingham. The room was clean. great shower room. Also have Netflix and Spotify for entertainment in the room if needed. Staff are friendly and attentive. Excellent breakfast and dinners. If you stay at the back of the building - no traffic noise early morning. Total silence.Hi Rob Thank you very much for the lovely review of the Chequers Inn, its great to see you enjoyed your stay with us. Its especially pleasing to read that you found the food excellent and the team friendly and attentive. I hope you will be back to see us again very soon Kind RegardsEwen

The Railway Inn Pub and Bed & Breakfast in Docking is a family owned free-house pub located in the picturesque village of Docking, just a few miles in-land from the scenic North Norfolk coast line.
Visited here today as a âniceâ end to our family holiday.....first of all I am pretty sure this restaurant must be writing their own reviews. We came for the Sunday carvery......if you want rock hard swede, and rock hard parsnips and meat with no juice and dry as a bone then this is your place......the waitress did not come over to check how our meal was at all.....when they came over to collect our plates we pointed out how appalling the food was the staff all came over and actually started arguing with us.....and told us we cleared our plates which we certainly did not. They actually accused us of lying! What a horrific experience with no ambience....an absolute dive. At no point was any reduction to to the meal offered.....thank god for spar up the road.....you know itâs bad when you take a trip to spar after a meal out.

We have used the Nelson for many years, and our last visit I mentioned the food had improved along with the service, however it has changed again. On this visit we find less choice of food available, less food on the plate and all for more money. We had to start with calamari which in fact was three bits on a huge amount of salad, the other starters were of the same portions. The mains had reduced in size and to be honest quality was not the best. This is a real shame, because it was one of a kind and not competing with other restaurants in the market, but now for less money you can get a decent meal at the White Horse in Brancaster Staithe with great views.

An award winning rustic-smart gastropub, serving the best in local produce and East Anglian ales. Friendly and efficient service perfectly compliment the incredible food served up by chef patron Ben Handley and his team. Norfolk favourites such as Brancas
Had heard that this was a bit special for Sunday lunch so being in the area for a weekend break decided to book a table (well in advance!).. Building has a lovely atmosphere and the place was buzzing, even though we were having a 'late' lunch (2.30ish). Staff were very friendly and efficient and the food was outstanding. Roast beef followed by the Raspberry Bakewell Cheesecake was to die for. Can't recommend highly enough - and the beers were great as well!

Four of us had lunch in this country pub. We expected a quiet place but it was busy. Staff seemed rushed. Food reasonable. Small portion of mussells, haddock. Game stew good. Sticky toffee pudding wonderful. Things may have been different because restaurant week menu - 2 courses for £18. Great beer - especially Oakam Citra IPA.

We ate here last Friday evening. The dining room is an extension with orangerie with big windows on to a delightful courtyard with dining tables. Sadly, October was too cold for the courtyard to be in use. The dining room was extremely noisy, had nothing to deaden or absurd sound and the tables are quite close together. The food is expensive - a pound or two per course over usual restaurant prices round here. So we expected something special. The dishes were competent, the ingredients good, but none of the magic or delight we would expect for the extra money. In the end we left a bit disappointed and deafened. If weâd gone in summer and eaten out in the courtyard we may have ended up with a completely different impression.Dear Peter,Thank you for your review. The night you chose to dine with us, which was indeed a Friday, was extremely busy as we were fully booked. Coupled with this being one of our live music evenings, of course it was noisy and if you wanted something more intimate then maybe a mid-week day would be a better option for you.Our prices are relevant to the dishes offered and as you fail to state what the âother restaurantsâ are I cannot assist you any further with these comments apart from the fact that all of our prices are stated on our website, in the menu displays outside the main entrance and on our restaurant menus of course. So plenty of opportunities to check our prices even before committing to a reservation.I look forward to you returning in the summer but Iâm afraid it will still be busy and noisy due to our popularity and we do not offer price reductions off our menu for dining alfresco.

We turned up without booking but were advised that the restaurant was fully booked. It clearly wasn't and also didn't fill up during the evening. We were told that we could eat in the bar, which is very badly lit other than one bright light that is somewhat dazzling.Food was simple and ok and reasonable valueInitial beer was flat but 2nd pint was betterFriendly serviceDear Graham P,Thank you for your review, i am glad that overall you enjoyed the meal, we do keep our prices on a par with other similar establishments in the local area.I hope you give us another try next time you are in the area.Kind RegardsMatthew JonesGeneral Manager

My husband booked the day before and told them we would like a nice table for his wifeâs birthday for lunch. When we arrived we were shown to probably the best table in the restaurant with a fantastic view over the marshes. Without exception the staff were brilliant and so was the service and food. After a conversation with Sandra on reception, who was lovely, we mentioned that we might like to go back another time and stay in one of their pet friendly rooms so that we could take our cocker spaniel. Without asking we were taken to one of the rooms to have a look at it to see if we thought it would be suitable. Needless to say we have booked a short break there in January. It was my birthday today and a card was waiting for me wishing me a happy birthday and dessert came out with a birthday message and an indoor firework! Such a nice gesture. The staff all went above and beyond what was expected. A truly rememberable birthday lunch. Thank you.Thank you for your lovely review, I am delighted that you enjoyed your birthday lunch and that Sandra looked after you so well with a tour of the room, a card and pyrotechnics! We look forward to welcoming you back in January. Kind RegardsRob
