Reviews on Bar food in Bilbao, Province of Vizcaya, Spain. Travelers generally come to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim—some for the art inside, but many for the amazing building itself. The Fine Arts Museum and the Basque Museum may not have been designed by Frank Gehry, but are worth a visit, and you can catch international opera stars at the Palacio Euskalduna.

We popped in here for some late afternoon pintxos. The place looked inviting and the pintxos looked tempting. I ordered first asking what things were and the male server seemed like I was a bother. We enjoyed the pintxos and this time my wife ordered some more food. She got the same indifference.Really too bad as the food was excellent. We wonât go back with this attitude.Thank you very much for sharing your opinion with other travelers. We regret that you did not feel comfortable during your visit. We will investigate what happened.

What a great find. It's in the corner of a stunning old square. There a bars and restaurants everywhere but we chose here on Friday and came back today. Beer and especially the wine very good and a fantastic selection of food. But best of all is the service. We will be back before we leave on Wednesday Thank you for your comment and for recommending us to other travelers. We are glad to know that you visited us more than once.

The "Bar Charly" is one of the oldest bars in the "Oldtown" of Bilbao, located in the Iconic "Plaza Nueva" of Bilbao. Founded in 1973 by the fathers of the actual owner, in his counter you will find a balance from traditional food and the wave of the "new
We figured weâld try another place for pintxois so we try Charly next door to Viktor Montes- big mistake. Everything tastes pretty much the same- from cheese to mushrooms, itâs all deep fried, very creamy without identifying flavours. My husband has an Iberian ham and says itâs pretty good. The white wine is good, but Iâm tasting the pintxois even an hour or two later.Patatas fritas and calamari look good at the next table so maybe we just chose badly.Where Saturday night was hopping and all the bars surrounding the square were open, only a few are serving tonight ( Sunday) so maybe itâs not the A game night. Donât know, but am disappointed even though the sign boasts since 1973."DesconfÃa del que te diga que no le gusta la FIESTA". Criss Jami. (Poeta). CONFIADOS en el buen gusto y en la alegre y cordial participación.

A small walk to the RÃa and Abra of Bilbao, it is one of the best pintxo places in Bilbao with nothing to envy from San Sebastian. All tapas are displayed at the counter and you pay at the end, anything with jamon, squid or seafood is worth a try. Have a txacoli (local wine) if you must or something good to accompany this and then move on to other bars in the area. Great spot to have something before lunch.

Historical Plaza Barria or Plaza Nueva is an irresistibly charming hotspot in the old city. By 3pm on a sunny Saturday, it was already full of people; mostly local families gathered to chill, hangout and enjoy each otherâs company. Certainly feels relaxed and convivial. That pretty much sets the tone for La Ola. But what really defines this pintxos bar is its very friendly helpful service and thoroughly reasonable prices. There must have been 30-40 different pintxos on display! Just picked what had the most visual appeal. The server tried his best to explain in what they were. Ended up with eleven pieces of âcaliente y frÃosâ (hot and cold) seafood. With three glass of wine, the bill came to 30â¬. An excellent deal in our books! So glad we âpopped byâ!

37 degrees outside and the town is deserted. Half the places we want to visit are closed for their holidays. Fortunately El Huevo was not. Itâs a small place with a few tables outside. They specialise in pintxos with little fried quails eggs on top and they were delicious BUT the snacks made to order were even better - a skewer of succulent and tender octopus and prawn was amazing. We instantly ordered a second. A seemingly simple sandwich of tuna and pickled chillies was a revelation. We stayed longer than we should have, snacked some more, drank some more then moved on. Lovely friendly place. Great value. Great food.

Very decent if you want a traditional, non adventurous experience. Itâs popular for a reason. We really liked this place but Gure Toki across the square had way better quality and inventiveness of food and we personally preferred thatDefinitely try both places if you can!

El Globo is a pintxos-tapas bar,a friendly and relaxed place situated in the very center of the city,a stone's throw away from the Palacio de la Diputación and the exit of the Moyua metro stop(Diputación exit). El Globo is a lively meeting point for a mix
This restaurant is really hopping, and has an electric atmosphere. There was a large variety of pintos at a cost of about 2 euros. Wine and beer are amazingly inexpensive. Be sure to try the phyllo with curried vegetables, squid with onions, and mushrooms with onions. These were my favorite. Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A must when in Bilbao

This restaurant is amazing. We first had the Pintxos from the bar which was good but realized you could order Ribs and and scallops Pintxos for 3:80 from the menu. These little dishes were really amazing gourmet dishes and exceptional value for the quality. Donât miss visiting here without ordering those. Lovely place and definitely worth a visit.

Bar Roma is a meeting place, in the center of the city. They make exquisite âtapasâ and "pintxos". Select wines from the country and very friendly people.
Being ranked No 1 in TripAdvisor can't be easy but after a few minutes, I totally understood why!!Don't be put off by the normal looking outside or unsmiling bar man (which I think was the owner). After a few minutes, he'll be explaining what the many tasty pintxos are & what wines he has, all in a patient & friendly manner. We had 7 amazing savoury pintxos (& we wanted to try so many more!) plus a cheesecake (which was amazing & light but just sweet enough), along with 3 red wines & an alcohol free beer. Imagine our utter amazement when the bill came to 14.80 EUR, I thought he must have calculated something wrong!! But no, that's how good value it is here. We're only in Bilbao for 5 days but I'll definitely be hoping we have time for another visit as the food was so tasty, the wines were so good & the service was spot on.Good morning SuzeyQ.
