Willie's Restaurant and Bar

We loved Willie’s! 5 of us went and had appetizers and entrees. Everything was delicious and the servings were really large! We started with onion rings and Cajun queso! Both were so fabulous! Then my sister and I decided to split the seafood salad and they brought it out in two separate bowls. Each portion was seriously big enough that it could pass as an entree by itself. The salad was filled with shrimp, fried crawfish tails, avacados, black olives, croutons, etc. and was really fresh and delicious. My sister-in-law and my daughter split the seafood stuffed baked potato and it was HUGE! It was filled with cheese, crawfish, shrimp, and other delightful toppings! My brother-in-law got the Beauregard which was a fried catfish filet topped with a creamy crawfish topping! We left taking food with us; it was all so good! I highly recommend Willie’s.

We were traveling through and wanted to experience some cajun cuisine. Our server, Mallory was gracious and helpful. We were offered samples of the soups and various sauces before we made our decision. The crawfish eutoufe was delicious. We also ordered some boudin. This too was delicious with a horseradish sauce. This should be on your bucket list if you are in Baton Rouge. Thanks Mallory.

Bailey was an AWESOME server, knows her stuff and was great leading us through the menu like a pro. Lenten menu was fantastic as we deviated from the traditional BBQ. The Shrimp appetizer was amazing considering this is a restaurant with PORK in it's name. The Corn Dogs are a must try, as are the home made chips. And my salmon with purple rice? PERFECTION on a plate.

We were here for breakfast/lunch. The Crab Cake Benedict with cheese-stuffed jalapeño grit cake was excellent. The fish tacos were also very good - a little more spicy than expected. The onion rings were some of the best I’ve ever had. I was to have a side salad that comes with the fish tacos. The waiter did not bring the salad - and I reminded him. He apologized for forgetting, but never brought it out! At the end of the meal, I did not need or want a salad at that point. He apologized again and tried to offer us an ice cream sundae. What am I - in kindergarten? No thank you - just the check. Nothing was adjusted on the check for the lack of salad.

I can't believe I'm writing a negative review for TJ Ribs! Because we love this place and we eat here all the time - but yesterday - our Easter Dinner was not so good. They had an Easter Special menu of Prime Rib. So we jumped on it thinking that even tho Prime Rib is not their specialty - it ought to be GOOD because you know...this is a meat place. It was absolute terrible! First bite out of all our Prime Ribs...we all looked at each other....as we chewed...chewed...chewed. It was so tough...we couldn't even chew it! LOL We all switched plates around to see if maybe it was just us...no one could chew the prime rib it was so tough. (Now...so they were all Med Rare so it wasn't the cook temp). It was crazy! Now...the positives about TJ Ribs Easter Dinner. SUPER POLITE!! SUPER QUICK!!! We all decided to not say anything because they would only bring us MORE tough prime rib...and we didn't want to make a scene. But it was a huge waste of money for an Easter Dinner! We didn't want to waste all the meat entirely - so we brought it all home - and the Dog LOVED IT!! My suggestion to TJ Ribs...stick to what you do best...Ribs and Chicken. Don't do the Prime Rib again...EVER.

I was very disappointed in the Baton Rouge Acme House after having been to the New Orleans Acme House. The oysters were very small and didn't taste as good. In fact, our group that ordered oysters as their meal didn't receive them until AFTER the entire table was finished eating. Our server was impersonal, maybe because they knew they would receive an 18% tip regardless.

This place is in my neighborhood and I've been there many enjoyable times.Upon entering this Sunday afternoon I noticed it was lacking the overflow after church crowds of the past. It was nearly empty yet we were there for 2 hours for a simple order of onion rings, shrimp po boy ,hamburger & muffaletto. All of which lacked flavor except the onion rings. The waitress came by 3 times to say food was on the way.She finally brought the food without any more apologies.I was really ashamed my out of town guests had to experience this let down in quality.Baton Rouge has many other options that won't disappoint

Roux 61 is fun, spacious, and good for family meals. With ample parking, we were warmly welcomed and seated immediately. We went for dinner, arriving fairly early (5-ish). Our server was a bit new but, did a really good job of keeping up with our little idiosyncrasies. Their Long Island Ice Teas were tart but good. The portions are southern substantial and flavorful. Our appetizers of 1/2 dozen raw oysters and fried green tomatoes really hit the spot. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The fried green tomato's presentation was an eye-catcher. The seafood platter was practically enough to handle our group of four. To close the meal, we decided to try the bread pudding. It was good but, not great...too much cinnamon; however, that's a matter of taste. Overall the service was quite good, the food very satisfying and the price very reasonable. If you're in Baton Rouge, don't miss an opportunity to enjoy the homey southern atmosphere and the great food at Roux 61.

Great place to grab a quality meal and a beer (or two) close to campus. Wide menu options and great service hit you right away. The beer menu is VAST (with an Around the World experience available). The grilled pork chops and buffalo chicken were excellent. Prices were very good and service was on point. Plenty of seating options. There is very limited parking on the street, but there is a lot in the rear of the building (on Chimes St). Lemon Ice Box pie was also a hit! Great student hangout, but also great for families.
