My partner & I visited here tea time, the restaurant was quite empty at the time, after waiting 40 minutes for our food it turned up black. Sausages were cremated, after complaining we were offered a 'free pudding' which we declined, we were totally put off & lost our appetites, we found the staff weren't interested & wernt offered a reduction in our bill, This wasn't the first time we have had problems with the food here but reluctantly gave it another chance (BIG MISTAKE!!) I will NEVER eat here again & strongly advise anybody to do the same, the other dishes we ordered were tasteless, we were told the mash potato was from a packet!! (Smash) I thought that wasn't available anymore. Don't waste your money!!!!

Popped in for lunch and had the ocean and the garden sharing boards. Both were excellent. Beautifully cooked fish on one and the same can be said for the garden board, tempura vegetables were lovely as was the halloumi. Will definitely go again.

Came here on spec, was busy and although there were a couple of empty tables we were told that a large party were expected and they couldnât take any further bookings until after 8pm, fair enough so we had a drink in the rather featureless bar and waited, we were then seated promptly but had to wait a little before our orders were taken, we decided to forego starters because they were busy and just ordered mains, a gammon and a chicken and leek pie. We were pleased we hadnât ordered the starters as they were large portions. The food was very good, loads of chicken in the pie with âproper chipsâ veg and a jug of gravy, large gammon steak all very tasty. Service was polite and friendly and good value. We had seen a couple of local bad reviews but are now reassured that the food is still good and we will return.

Probably the restaurant we go to most regularly in Barrow and sadly the worst its ever been. Our booking was lost so we had to wait, our order was wrong, it took ages to come. We were so hungry by then we just ate.All a shame as the food tasted superb. The venison burger wss great as were all the chicken dishes. To go along with an excellent selection of beers both bottled and draft. The spirits selection isnt bad either along with a friendly/busy atmosphere. Putting the delays and lost booking as having an off day.Hi Joep735, thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. Please accept our apologies for the loss of your booking and the confusion with your order, which resulted in the wrong meals being brought to you. Although we make every effort to insure every customer has the perfect dining experience, both human and technical errors can occur. We hope that your next dining experience at the Duke meets your every expectation. Best regards.

My husband and I came here for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We enjoyed a couple of drinks outside on the upstairs terrace initially, which was lovely, then ate in the bar area downstairs.Food (3 courses) was amazing - especially the scotch egg! Service was prompt and overall it was a lovely evening. Really recommend! Hi 254alia, thank you for taking the time to leave such a great review, and congratulations on your anniversary! We're so pleased to hear that yourself and your husband enjoyed your wedding anniversary at The Mill at Ulverston. We're delighted with your feedback, and hope to see you again very soon.
