Fantastic traditional quaint pub/hotel. Our Sunday dinner platter was excellent. Lovely atmosphere with friendly efficient service from Joel. A place I would recommend and return to. Will book to stay next time. Just perfect. Thank you.

Situated in picturesque Teesdale countryside, and easily accessible from the A66, we offer northern welcomes and an unstuffy, romantic atmosphere.
We have stayed here many times and we will again, the food was great as always, but we were surprised when the "pre-dessert" was missing from dinner, we always appreciated this, very unusual. Surprised too at the change in the toiletries from the lovely Garage Spa options. Finally the staff seemed a little less knowledgeable in respect of the lovely dinner options again not the norm. I hope this review doesn't appear petty, but some of the things I mentioned were lovely flourishes that made this place a memorable hotel to visit. We will still return.

A historic country inn situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Offering home cooked food with a focus on quality and excellent customer service
Have never used this place before so didn't know what to expect but after visiting the Falls ( on the hottest day of 2019) we were ready for a drink and something to eat. We opted to eat outside in a courtyard at the rear of the building. The staff we met were very friendly and courteous. We had a 2 course meal and both were excellent. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place and will now make the effort to visit again if in the area.

Most welcoming upon arrival. 12.45 ish there were three couples only in these extensive premises. We ate in a conservatory type area at the rear, where the tables were immaculately and unnecessarily spread with pristine white table cloths, upon which were displayed a couple of menus, salt and pepper shakers and a bowl of sachets of sauces. Cutlery and serviettes were presented in a colourful (again unnecessary) miniature bucket. Food here is edible and cheap. Thatâs about all I can say.

Always heard good reviews from family members on this place, delivered with only a minor comment or two.The decor is eclectic to say the least, no two rooms are the same, but this gives it an oddly nice charm. Food is brilliant, pub grub with a bit of extra umph, only comment being the service. Staff were nice and attentive but slow to react to food/drink orders. If at all possible ask to be seated away from the kitchen, it gets a little smokey and rather warm. Overall I would come here again, canât fault the quality of the food served, location of the venue and the atmosphere inside.

We were staying locally, and were told to go to the Fox and Hounds only when we had a very good appetite. Glad we did. The ham, eggs and chips were magnificent. The beer was good. Staff were friendly. It was busy, but efficient. Excellent value for money. Probably a good idea to reserve a table.
