Reviews on Bar food in Asuncion, Paraguay. The "Mother of Cities" was founded in 1537, and declared independence from Spain in 1811. The charming historic section can be explored on foot. The friendly Paraguayan capital, gateway to the grassy Gran Chaco region, has long been a center of music, poetry and the arts, but only in recent years has Asunción been able to escape its long history of dictatorship rule. Sites to visit include Panteon Nacional de los Heroes, Casa de la Independencia and Catedral de Nuestra Senora de Asuncion.

For me, Walterio has the best burgers in Asuncion. I love how they aren't afraid to experiment with flavors, offering variety to the customer. I know they sell Slowburgers, but I still wish they found a way to speed up the process a bit. Trick is not going super hungry, or ordering an appetizer while waiting for the burger (it is worth it). I also have a serious addiction to their homemade mayonnaise.

Kilkenny is the first authentic irish pub in Paraguay. Come feel the craic every night.
Beer is cold, music is ok and the bar really feels like an Irish Pub. Not very crowded and beautiful people. I've been there and has lots is fun sitting on a table outside.

Nice spot with good mix of foreigners and locals that has kept its good vibe since forever.Aside from good vibe they have a nice selection of beers, anything from cheap drinks to the more tasty stuff.Probably my favorite bar in town, so far at least!

It is a pretty big restaurant located on the main road to the airport and across from two upscale shopping malls. It has outdoor and indoor seating with American Style food. I ordered buffalo chicken wings and sazerac cocktail. The bar tender got it right with the mixture. The buffalo chicken wings were almost authentic, except they were breaded completely and not deep fried. But, it was a good atmosphere and good service. The crowd was nice and it seems like a good place to spend a nice evening under the stars.

Unfortunately I have eaten here once. It smelled good - so I tried a hamburger. More like horse burger. It's even worse than in the states. Unfortunately, Paraguayan food is so bland they don't notice the difference. People go there for happy hour / drinks and horrible food. I assume that you would not consider this place if you are actually reading a review. They play American music - Paraguayan can get the real American experience of eating horrible processed chain food without leaving the country.

This very US American looking place was just next to my hotel in the Villa Morra neighborhood. A big airy restaurant with outdoor as well as indoor seating (inside is also a bar). The place is popular, as I could see, and fills up quickly. Music is an important element and when there, I mostly heard rather classical pieces of US pop.Besides the regular menu card they also have a separate cocktail card. For some of the cocktails mentioned there, a Happy Hour exists between 6-9pm, with two drinks for the price of one. I was curious about the 'Mojito Guarani', of which it said that there is 'Cedron Kapi'i' inside. When I asked the waitress what it is, she could only tell me that they would use it here also in their 'Tereré', that typical Paraguayan version of the Maté tea, which is drunk ice cold instead of warm. When the Mojito finally arrived, I could see that there was lemongrass inside, which apparently is called 'Cedron Kapi'i' in the local mixed Spanish-Guarani language. As a main course I had B.B.King Bistequitos de Cuadril, grilled rumpsteak pieces, and for dessert a 'Malamado Skillet' (referring in its name to the Malamado fortified Malbec from Argentina). All was tasty, as well as the espresso at the end. Wine by the glass is not available, only big bottles and just one small bottle of Rutini, an Argentinian Malbec.Wondering about this place, obviously named after the famous Rock'n Roll song by Chuck Berry, I got the information from the friendly waitress that this is not a US chain despite its looks, but that it comes from Argentina. In fact, as I found out later, it started in Cordoba in 2006. In Asunción alone there are two branches already.

Attended an event at Carmelitas Center this past weekend. The space is interesting and well laid out- three separate room culminating in a large ballroom. All have hardwood flooring for dancing, etc. Parking is problematic as there isn't any and the restroom could certainly use an update. The food was mediocre, but that may depend on the choices of the host. The audiovisual system was good, but, again, the music left much to be desired.

The Lido Bar's menu consists of favorite Paraguayan dishes. The sopa Paraguaya ( literally means, Paraguayan soup ) is actually a delightful corn, egg , onion and chesse souffle. Anthony Bourdain once enjoyed caldo de gallina con bori bori here. . . chicken soup with corn balls. Or try any of the unique Paraguayan sandwiches, soups, milanesas, empanadas or croquetas. A variety of juices, coffee, tea and soda are served. The liquor selection is typically Paraguayan: a variety of beers; Scotch whiskey or the South American favorite "whis-cola" = coca cola and Scotch.

This place is more of a pizza joint, but I decided on having the pizza burger...very filling! Service was outstanding.
