A family run business based in the historical town of Dumbarton providing a variety of main meals, snacks and beverages and a variety of daily specials with prices to suit everyone.
Some friends and I had dinner together here recently. Perfect meeting point for us at this cosy bar. We had a range of dishes between us such as Chicken Enchilada, Chicken Supreme (their version) and Nachos as a main. Soooo good, each dish was super tasty! Friendly service and great prices, we will be back again.

Friendly welcome as soon as we came in the door. Nice cosy surroundings and delicious food efficiently served. Reasonable prices. Had heard good reports about this place and it didn't fail to please three hungry golfers. We will certainly be back and look forward to our next visit. Full marks to our server.

Dined here for a celebration meal for our friends engagement, a party of 10 and everyone of us were very happy with our meals, nothing left on our plates, beautifully presented and good portions...our waitress Victoria was very friendly and efficient and definitely made our experience a good one with her pleasant manner with nothing being too much trouble, a credit to the restaurant...a lovely scenic place to eat with amazing views with the added bonus of an outside balcony option. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and has a lovely ambience and was of a very highly standard of cleanliness. We also had the pleasure of the manager Angela come over and make sure everything was to our satisfaction and congratulation our engaged friend which was a lovely gesture, I wouldnât hesitate to recommend and will definitely be back very soon ... lovely views of the queen of the loch which is in the photo provided from my friends husband Thomas Mcdonald x

The tables on the terrace are few in number, but with a glass firepit in the tables and blankets to keep you warm they are very, very convivial. But I do have to agree with the service issues. Long waits if you are looking for table service at busy times, or, if you are sitting at the bar you can easily be ignored whilst all the staff are tied up in drinks dispense for the waiters. Not quite what you expect in a five star hotel.

Myself and my wife visited this hotel for one night this month. The bar area was open and outside looked great , pity it was too cold to take advantage of it. It wasn't the cheapest bar for lager compared to the other few bars which we visited but it had a handy pool table and staff were welcoming apart from Shaun who seemed to be having a long day!!!Breakfast in the conservatory was nice, food was excellent and service was first class. The room was small and bathroom smaller but value for money. The location was excellent as it overlooked Loch Lomond. We would like to visit again.John & AlisonHi John, Would it be possible for you to email some specific details over. Thanks, [email protected]

My wife, daughter and I had been into the Carrick Spa for the morning and decided to have lunch at The Claret Jug before heading home. The service and level of attention shown us by Mark was absolutely superb. He was very polite and pleasant and could not do enough for us. He was superb. The food was delicious if a little pricey and the atmosphere was lovely and relaxing. Overall a lovely afternoon following a relaxing morning. A treat.Thank you for taking the time to post a review on TripAdvisor. It is fantastic to read that you received such exceptional service thanks to Mark in The Claret Jug, we have ensured to pass on your comments and he is delighted to know that his efforts positively impacted on your visit. A Great Country Pub which serves great food!
We booked a table as we saw that they advertised a Sunday roast. OMG, what a roast. We have the Trio of meat. Beef, Turkey and Pork Belly. The photos do not do it justice. We also got a big bowl of roasted vegetables and ordered a side of Cauliflower Cheese. Not that we were hungry afterwards but we had to order dessert. Sticky Toffee Pudding and Marmalade Bread and Butter Pudding. We WILL be back.

Evening meal with family Friday during weekend break. I ordered salmon fillet which came with veg, it was superb. Husband had fish combo and sister and brother in law had fajitas. All excellent. Service was fantastic. Staff extremely friendly and polite. Venue was spotlessly clean. The view of the Loch was stunning. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going there again.
