Reviews on Bar food in Antananarivo, Antananarivo Province, Madagascar. Built on a narrow, rocky ridge, Antananarivo occupies a strategic point at the center of the island of Madagascar. Two forts watch over the city from the east and southwest, while within the city limits lay royal palaces, embassies, some fifty churches and a mosque. The city's most distinguishing feature may be the burnt out remains of the Rova, or Queen's Palace, situated on a prominent hill. Its steep alleys and stairways make Antananarivo a challenging but rewarding city to explore on foot.

We stopped here on a long drive across Madagascar for lunch. Definitely a popular spot among well-to-do locals and expats. Tourists weren't as obvious so more of a mix with locals. Food came out reasonably quickly and accurately. Beers were chilled and tasty. Bathrooms were in good shape while tables and eating areas were clean and cleared quickly. Overall seemed like a good place and worth a visit to grab a quick bite and local fare.

This is an ancient ok almost ancient spot... I stayed here on my first visit to Madagascar in 1987.A lot has changed since then. I stopped staying here because of the noise, they have a very busy cabaret.Anyway, the point of this review is just to say:1. To see live music, check the windows here, there is something on most nights. Be careful of pick-pockets in the cabaret.2. Good place to have a coffee, a cake, a bowl of ice-cream in the cafe, and the restaurant has been pretty good on the many occasions I have eaten here3. Beware a bit of the bar, it is a pretty important hangout for hookers, who in general are not too difficult to deal with, but sometimes it is annoying to be predated so openly

I was staying at the Hotel Louvre and decided to try the 313 Restaurant. The service was excellent and very friendly. I did not speak fluent french (although I tried a terrible version of franglais) and they were very kind to me, and patient.I will say that there was a bit of a language gap and I would have tried harder next time. I ordered wine (in English) but that was never brought. It was definitely my fault and I should have tried again. The staff was very attentive and efficient.I ordered the honey glazed ribs and they were just okay. I should have picked something else, but the scalloped potatoes were excellent! The creme brulee was also just okay and tasted a bit like scrambled eggs. Definitely not the creamy custard I'm used to. I think the dish was heated too quickly? or perhaps it was too shallow?Anyway, it was an average meal.
