We ate here twice during our stay in Almyrida. My husband had the fish platter and I had fillet steak on our first visit and both were tasty and impressive, so much so that we returned and ordered the fish platter for both of us. So much choice and cooked to perfection and a lovely complimentary panacotta and strawberry daiquiri to end the meal. If you are a seafood fan then the platter is a must!

We were visiting someone who lives in Crete, and this was their preferred place to go. Food was good, service excellent and the location perfect. Its a great place for relaxation or if you have a family of young ones (as we did), perfect so they can play on beach, or in ocean while adults conversed.

Popped in for a beer late afternoon and sat at the table directly in front of the sea. Amazing view and a lovely cooling breeze. The day was a particularly hot one (36C feels like 39C) according to the local weather stats and I needed an icy cold beer, or two or three! Unfortunately the beer was not particularly cold and was also 50C more expensive than other establishments. To make matters worse the service was slow just when I needed it to be fast.Instead of having several beers as I had intended, I kept it to one.In summary, great view average service, warm beer.

Ammos is a tiny cafe perched right at the water's edge next to one of Almyrida's 3 pretty beaches. The menu is straightforward with a limited selection of traditional Greek dishes, burgers, pizza and pasta. For a lunchtime snack by the beach it is both convenient and excellent value. In particular, the pasta dishes are delicious. I ordered an unusual dish of tagliatelli with a creamy chicken and vegetable sauce which was very tasty indeed. A pet hate is when pasta arrives unloved in a heap on my plate with a puddle of sauce perching on top. Here it was served properly with every strand of pasta lightly coated in sauce. Service was efficient and friendly and the eating area is very like sitting in a wooden beach hut.
