Stopped here after a walk around Arlington. Set in the middle of the village, this is a deceptively large premises. It is well decorated and very comfortable. Menu is extensive offering mainly traditional pub grub to a good standard. We had the gammon egg and chips (gluten free) and scampi and chips. Prices were reasonable. The car park is not that big and street parking is difficult but well worth a visit if in the area.

We had read that this was an award winning pub so chose it to celebrate my husbands 80th birthday. The food was eatable but nothing special. My burger was dry and chewy and the skinny fries could have been dished up straight from MacDonalds. (I was expecting healthy baked chips as opposed to French fries). All in all I thought is was average pub grub but overpriced. Then there was the service. The waiter was friendly - but the service was slow - the only thing to arrive quickly was the bill once we said we didn't want a desert. We weren't asked once if our food was OK and I was disappointed that they didn't make a fuss of my husband given it was his 80th and I had mentioned it in the comments section when booking on line. We won't be going back. We felt undervalued as customers.

Had an early dinner here, so we had the Sipper menu. Initially I thought it was a bit limited, but everything we ordered was super tasty! The burger seemed like it was home made with herbs, the fish cake was delicious and the waitress was adorable and very attentive.

Great location - easy 15-min walk to the famous Long Man.First visit for a while, but food, drink, and hospitality still first-class.Don't leave without trying the home-smoked salmon pate and duck - outstanding.

Family and dog friendly pub restaurant with a warm welcome for all. We have a seasonal menu, a daily specials menu and our Sunday menu features our very popular roast dinners. Food Serving hours: Monday to Saturday 12:00pm to 9:00pm and Sunday 12:00pm to
Late lunch with a toddler. The waiting staff could not have been more engaging, helpful and accommodating. Sunday roast was very good, well presented and tasty. Chicken Caesar Salad - the chicken portion was rather underwhelming, dry and chewy. Next time i will have the roast. Apart from that one negative everything else was great. Lovely pub & restaurant.Thank you for visiting us at the Barley Mow, we hope to see you again soon for a roast! Best wishes, The Barely Mow

Visited the Smugglers with friends. The menu looked appealing and we were not disappointed. Lovely Old Inne, with garden seating. Good choice of draft ciders and ales. We all had a different main course and were very satisfied with the food and service. I went for the Summer Pudding (Special) for desert and it was delicious. The rest our group had ice cream which was also delicious. (so I was told) All in all, friendly and helpful staff, lovely location, and great food at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely dinner here. Great menu, very good food and beer and wine. Our service was good also.I cannot strongly enough emphasize the need for a reservation.Several friends wandered in shortly after we were seated, unexpectedly. We asked the staff if they could join us. Staff said that they could, but that they would not be served for at least 30 minutes.Others without a reservation were told they could not be served. There was lots of open tables. So, I can only assume that perhaps they were short-staffed.Regardless, good food, but get a reservation.

Having reserved a table for 3 in the evening, we found we were in the nursery area, with babies and young children loudly enjoying themselves right next to us. This was 7pm. We ordered drinks at the bar and asked where our table was, expecting someone to come over. No one did, so eventually we asked and was told we have to help ourselves to a menu and order at the busy bar. No one told us this.Booked for their GF options, the fish pie was a glutenous dry specimen with one overcooked prawn and probably cod? Side salad probably for show rather than eating. The fish and chips had overcooked batter, chips passable. Scampi was a large portion but again, overcooked. All was an unpleasant chore to get through, however, we were hungry so did. No one asked us how our meal was. Too crowded, I couldn't be heard to tell them anyway.
