Not been here for years. Not disappointed. Arrived late and n evening. Not very busy. Staff friendly and welcoming. Asked several times if everything to our liking and if we needed anything. Obligatory popadoms and chutneys to start. This restaurant offers good selection of chutneys and sauces. Complimentary aubergine pakora and drinks. I went for something I donât normally eat, mushroom and chicken curry with vegetable rice and chapatti. Good choice. Would definitely go back or order a takeaway.

An award winning restaurant in the heart of St.Albans serving fresh and authentic Bangladeshi & Indian food.An extensive range of beers, wines and sprites. Popular with couples as well as large groups.
We have been to the Chilli Bar on a number of occasions, and never been disappointed with the food and the service. As my previous review will confirm.Tonight was the polar opposite. We had a table booked for 8pm, we arrived 5 minutes early and shown to our table which was right in the middle of the restaurant. From this promising beginning we were expecting a good meal, after 20 minutes we were still sitting and waiting for a menu and someone to offer us drinks and poppadoms. We eventually asked a passing waiter for a couple of menus, he bought these over and said âIâll get someone to take your order for drinks âAfter being ignored for another 15 minutes we stood up and left, not challenged by anyone on the way out.Very disappointing Chilli BarHello Andrew Iâm sorry to learn of your disappointment at the level of service you received. As you will agree this is highly unusual. Please do contact me directly at [email protected] so that I can investigate this further.Kind regards Kashim

We visited Forest Of India yesterday whilst walking home, totally impromptu visit. Had a lovely meal, service was fab, staff couldnât do enough for you. Owner very friendly. Have visited this restaurant many times in the past, and never had a bad experience. If I had to say anything negative it would be that itâs a little old fashioned and probably needs a bit of a facelift but the food is good and reasonably priced so does it really matter?

Had dinner here with family. All the classics plus some new (to me) dishes. Service was polite and friendly. Poppadoms and chutneys were v good. Mains were tasty but chicken korma a bit too sweet for me. Naan breads were delicious. All in all a good dining experience.

We were in Hemel Hempstead for the weekend to watch the final of Ultimate Strongman in nearby St Albans. We checked Tripadvisor for ideas of where we could eat out and Mazza came up a few times with glowing reviews. We didnât book a table but took a chance and weâre welcomed in.The staff were very welcoming and on hand to answer our queries. We both ordered sheek kabab for starters and shared chicken madras and dansak with Bombay potatoes and rice for mains. The whole meal was absolutely delicious! We have tried many Indians and this has to be up there with the best! Very tasty, portion size was perfect and service was top notch. We highly recommend eating here and if we are ever up in the area again we would not hesitate to go back.Well done!!

We had dinner on a Sunday evening, the restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated quickly. The menu has some interesting dishes as well as the usual range of curries. Service was prompt and the food tasty. A slight turn off - while leaving the tip, it was swiftly taken off the table and appeared to be counted before being whisked away without any thanks.

Visited last night for a birthday meal. Really let down by outcome. Restaurant was busy but that shouldnât be the reason for poor quality food. Not only did we have to wait a long time for food that was lukewarm two of the main dishes looked and tasted the same, couldnât tell them apart. Really have to improve.

My girlfriend and I ate in Sitar this evening and food aside, it was a really lovely experience. The restaurant is clean and welcoming, the staff are super friendly and the prices are very fair. The food was delicious and tasty. We've had a takeaway previously and it was excellent and tonight was just as good if not better when dining in. Family run restaurant too which is always a nice touch and as I've said the staff are all very attentive, warm and welcoming. The dad and son also took the time to chat with us after our meal and welcome us to the area as we have only been in Boxmoor for a couple of months. Can't recommend enough and we will be going back many a time I'm sure. 5*+++
