The Indian Royal probably provides the best Indian food in Letchworth. However service on busy nights is slow and you just have to wait. Fortunately when the food does arrive it is worth the wait. This would be a 5 star review if they took the plunge and employed just one more waiter. Having said that the staff are really friendly and are good at recommending dishes.

The Lancer is a consistently good restaurant and take-away right in the centre of Baldock. Delicious food, friendly service and good value for money. The restaurant was recently refurbished, giving it a bright, relaxed, modern feel. The menu is extensive, with all the usual options plus some unique "specials" which are well worth a try. It has been our favourite since moving into the area 8 years ago. Small word of caution - if the dishes say they're hot, they really are spicy! The chef is happy to adjust the level of chilli to suit you - just ask if you're not sure. Thanks to Ali and the rest of the team for another lovely meal on Friday evening.

Saturday evening visit, pickles with popadoms tasteless, ordered vegetable balti .... when it arrived it was very disappointing. The vegetables were cabbage, Brussel sprouts! One piece each of red and green pepper, two sticks of carrot the rest Iâm not even sure of. I really donât think India serve sprouts and cabbage in there curryâs!! It definitely wasnât a pleasant dish!

We started our meal with popadom served with tasty relishes. We continued with a dish we've never tried before recommended by the patron, Abs. He thought we might enjoy the Jara-Lebu lamb which is infused with fresh wild citrus fruit of sythet. He was right!! It's an unusual but winning combination of flavours and perfectly spiced for us. It was accompanied by a delicious thick dahl and vegetable paratha and the whole meal was a real treat. The Chablis is delightful and service outstanding. Needless to say we've booked to go again later in the month and I'm looking forward to it already! There's so much more to try on the menu and great to have staff to advise us who have bothered to try to understand our taste.Thank-you very much for yr feedback. It gives us all great satisfaction when customers have enjoyed their evening.

We drove a reasonable distance to eat here on Monday evening, itâs our favourite âIndianâ restaurant within 10 miles of our home and we visit around once a year.We had garlic chilli chicken and korai chicken with 2 x special rice, Bombay potatoes and onion bhajis. We both agreed that the garlic, chilli chicken was the better option of the two as it had more flavour and heat, there were a couple of tough pieces of chicken but there was enough meat to compensate. The potatoes and rice were delicious and the bhajis pretty good so we were happy overall - I also ordered a chicken dansak to takeaway which was decent too.The restaurant is spotlessly clean and the service friendly but doesnât quite reach the levels we used to experience when we first used the place regularly about 10 years ago. The curries are very oily so takeaway may be a better option for us in the future to enable us to drain the excess away which is quite important to us for medical reasons.Weâll continue to return here occasionally as it remains one of the best in an area largely bereft of good curry restaurants.
