Hemel Hempstead /ˈhɛməl ˈhɛmpstɪd/ is a new town in Hertfordshire, England. Located 24 miles (39 km) northwest of London, it is part of the Greater London Urban Area. The population according to the 2001 Census was 81,143, and at the 2011 census was 94,932. Developed after the Second World War as a new town, it has existed as a settlement since the 8th century and was granted its town charter by King Henry VIII in 1539. It is part of the district (and borough since 1984) of Dacorum and the Hemel Hempstead constituency.

We go here every week. The onion bahjis are amazing and food is great. Normally order a tika masala or Dansak. Staff are really friendly. Apart from one guy who always has been grumpy and rude. However we LOVE it here. I would really reccomend it as the deal is fantastic.Starter, main,side,rice and naan bread for £10 ish

Came here with a couple of old friends, we'd not seen each other for months, so we decided on the Raja as it had been recommended, really good menu, great prices and very friendly and helpful staff, I will be back again and hopefully soon

Myself and my fiancée visited for food yesterday evening. We waited about 15 minutes before a waiter took our drinks order and an additional 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive before ordering our food.The food come out stone cold, we raised this with the waiter who wasnât apologetic one bit and took all the food away in a mood. The food come back from being heated up in the microwave with a hard crusty layer on the top of all the dishes that we return (disgusting) We complained to the waiter who again didnât apologies and cleared away the uneaten dishes from the table.We waited about 15-20 minutes before the bill came charging us the full price - i explained âI am not prepared to pay the full price due to the poor quality of food and service we just experiencedâThe manager approached our table and raised his voice shouting abuse at us in a very abrupt and angry manner. He said things like âThe food wasnât cold, You will pay full price, The customer isnât rightâWe were in total shock with the way we was just spoken to. The waiter approached our table and joined in laughing as he spoke. It was disgusting customer service and strongly recommend people not to visit Saffron anymore. Poor quality food, awful service, unpleasant staff and just a god damn rude manager who needs anger management.I am very sorry you received poor service.Food would never come out stone cold as all our dishes are prepared fresh to order. We do not reheat food in the microwave, we either prepare a fresh dish if there is anything wrong or we reheat in the pan. As in your instance our chef reheated your food and also added to it to make up the portion that you had eaten already.Sorry you felt you were overcharged, it was a banquet night and you only paid £12.95 per person for a five course meal.The manager did not say the customer is wrong, he simply stated that everything had been rectified and you were only asked to pay for what you consumed at a discounted price (already applied). Your table was cleared with all the dishes eaten fully. They weren't any dishes!I am sorry you felt that you were being laughed at by the waiter. At the time, I am advised that other customers were being disrupted with the comments you were shouting out about wanting to go to another restaurant and your food was stone cold. You also threatened to put a bad review if you didn't get money off!We aim to provide our customers with excellent quality freshly prepared food on the premises. At times due to pressure things can go wrong and we try our best to put it right for our valued customers. I am very sorry on this occasion this did not happen for you.

Not been here for years. Not disappointed. Arrived late and n evening. Not very busy. Staff friendly and welcoming. Asked several times if everything to our liking and if we needed anything. Obligatory popadoms and chutneys to start. This restaurant offers good selection of chutneys and sauces. Complimentary aubergine pakora and drinks. I went for something I donât normally eat, mushroom and chicken curry with vegetable rice and chapatti. Good choice. Would definitely go back or order a takeaway.

Indian is not my first choice but have friends who absolutely love it so we take turns in different cuisine on our outings. I have always found something that I have enjoyed. Staff are knowledgeable and always willing to discuss your preferences and find something you will enjoy. Attentive staff but not overbearing. Surroundings to a high and authentic standard.

Excellent. A modern Indian restaurant specialising in Indian street food. There is an extensive menu with some items, which you would not usually find in an Indian restaurant. There are a variety of vegetarian options. The staff were friendly and helpful in making suggestions from the menu, service was prompt and the food was delicious. The paneer tawa with coconut and ilme rice was lovely. Others in our party had prawn and chicken options for this dish. We also loved the herby potato naan and aubergine and peanut side dish. As noted by other customers, there is no car park as the restaurant is just off the "Magic Roundabout" so parking can be difficult if you are not lucky enough to get one of the spaces on the road outside. We had a great meal here and will return.

Came here on a Saturday evening me, my partner and our daughter at around 7pm without booking a table, restaurant was very busy but we still got a table. Food was lovely and the service was great, the man who served us was so nice with our 6 year old taking her order from her, making sure food was ok, just genuinely friendly! Would definitely recommend if your in the area

My girlfriend and I ate in Sitar this evening and food aside, it was a really lovely experience. The restaurant is clean and welcoming, the staff are super friendly and the prices are very fair. The food was delicious and tasty. We've had a takeaway previously and it was excellent and tonight was just as good if not better when dining in. Family run restaurant too which is always a nice touch and as I've said the staff are all very attentive, warm and welcoming. The dad and son also took the time to chat with us after our meal and welcome us to the area as we have only been in Boxmoor for a couple of months. Can't recommend enough and we will be going back many a time I'm sure. 5*+++
