Iâve been to Aakash two or three times in the past and it was fantastic. We were booked as a party of 19 to visit for my 50th birthday. Found out today that they no longer serve alcohol and donât let you bring your own. I was told this is to âpreserve our Halal licence.âBooking cancelled and weâre going somewhere else. Not all your customers are Muslim...Wonât be returning.

Visited on Sunday teatime. Very quiet. Sunday's restaurant serves a buffet which was very nice with half dozen mains to choose from. The main menu looked extensive with a few dishes not seen in other restaurants so sure would be worth trying. Lots of vegetarian choices. Prices are very reasonable and you can bring your own alcohol. The decor could do with a bit of a spruce up but the staff are friendly laid back but welcoming.
Read a glowing review about the pink popadom in the local paper so we had to visit and check it out. We were not disappointed as the food and service was excellent. We went on a sunday night and were told that there was a special offer on where you got popadoms, any starter, any main ,a side dish, and ice cream or coffee for £10.95 an absolute bargain considering the food was delicious. It is a take your own alcohol restaurant and luckily there is a bargain booze next door. We will definitely be returning.

Samarkand Restuarant or otherwise known as Sammy's, is a family run Indian restaurant established since 1986. Shabbir Laher (Sammy), his wife Zulekha Laher (Julie) and their son, Rahil have expanded this original 30 seater restaurant to its current capaci
Have you ever had that overwhelming urge for a decent curry and you can not get the thought out of your mind. It happened to me on Thursday . I could not be bothered travelling into Bradford as my recent experiences suggested there are not many establishments for reliable India cuisine. I decided to stay local and the Samarkand was my first choice.I was literally leaning on the door at 5:30pm which is their opening time, as the door was opened by the restaurant manager. I asked for a table for one, saddo maybe? but very hungry so who gives a fig.As I settled, a tray of Raita, Onion chilli chutney and tomato chilli sauce was brought to the table with two freshly cooked papadum. My order was taken, a mixed starter of a shami kabab and a lamb seekh kebab served with an onion, tomato and cucumber salad garnish.I requested a main meal of lamb madras and a plain nan, and a litre bottle of ice cold water. Sorted! Cutlery and a napkin were placed on the table for meI finished off the super crisp papadums with the chutney but left some of the Raita for the starter. The starter arrived and I devoured their hand made items and let me tell you they were delicious. The main meal followed promptly served in a hot stainless dish for serving to the warmed ceramic plate. This did not linger at all, as I knew exactly was to expect and it was woofed down in mere moments. Absolutely gorgeous. The tender meat quality cooked to fall apart perfection is the Samarkand's established bench mark standard. Every morcel was consistently good due to the quality of the meat and its preparation to ensure only the best gets into the meal. The nan bread was enormous and tandoori oven baked with the light toasted puffed up structure I like. Just perfect. The curry gravy was a full on spicy flavour of the type of heat that causes the hair on the back of the neck to tingle and a slight sweat to appear on the the brow. They absolutely nailed it. That is why I recommend the Samarkand.I do not apologise for give here my full description of the meal because some curry cafes just do not know how to deliver this quality of service and need some guidance.I paid the bill and thanked the chef with a hand shakeThat took just 55 minutes start to finish, to satisfy my craving. âº

Visited for the first time and didnât have a table booked. The staff were very accommodating. The curries were perfectly spiced and the onion bhajis unlike any other! One niggle, in that water isnât served as standard (as it usually is in most restaurants). I asked for some and was brought one glass of it. The chicken tikka starter was quite dry and tasteless. All starters came on a bed of salad. Ordered a plain naan and it was perfection-not too thick or doughy. The whole place, including toilets, was spotlessly clean. The bill seemed very reasonable for what we ordered.

We came here at 10:40pm they close at 11pm, and they welcomed us in still! The service was wonderful, the waiter was exceptional, so friendly. Best lamb chops we have EVER had so juicy and thick not too spicy, the curry was fantastic too. We have tried hundreds of Indian restaurants and takeaways as itâs my favourite food, from york to Leeds to Bradford etc and everywhere in Batley but this is by far the best. Also a baby magnum to finish with for free! Just the perfect sweet needed! Will definitely be returning just wish Iâd found it earlier,Thank you!
