We dined here on our last night in the Wachau Valley. The atmosphere was upscale and warm. The menu was in German but the waiter was very patient with us and helped to navigate through our choices. We had the pork and the stuffed chicken and both were very good and the meals were nicely presented. They had a good selection of wines from the area. We ended the meal with a delicious variety dessert, allowing us to sample several things. It was a very enjoyable meal!

We walked in wet through with a dog in tow, and they couldn't have been nicer! The service was first rate and the food fantastic. The food was locally sourced, organic and excellently cooked. The prices were considerably lower than we are used to in Vienna, particularly for this quality. We were on a weekend break and ate here twice. We will be back!

Whilst the interior is rather oldfashioned, the food and its presentation are a modern interpretation of traditional dishes. The set menu is very reasonalbly priced although the prices are on the higher side for this location, yet good value for money. The staff is very frienldly and knowledgable albeit sometimes not attentive enough.Highly recommended restaurant particularly in nice weather to sit on the terrace.

Prize-winning wines, homemade schnaps brandies, a small but exquisite restaurant, and a smattering of guest rooms to overnight in - plus desserts flowing from the local variety of apricot known as marille. The Prandtauerhof in Joching on the Danube is mor
I finally made it to Holzapfel with my cousin and her daughter yesterday. The experience was just perfect - a a fine dining experience based on Austrian standards. I had Blutwurst with the best homemade mustard that I've ever had. My cousin had an asparagus dish as it was asparagus season. Her daughter is a vegetarian. There weren't that many vegetarian dishes on the menu, but the chef happily whipped up some tasty spinach dumplings for her. There is a great selection of wines. I should add that our waitress could not have been more charming and helpful - also English-speaking. The eating area for the summer is in a charming outdoor courtyard that is just lovely. The restaurant itself is located in the stunning Wachau so the drive there is fabulous. I've now been living in Austria for the past ten years and Holzapfel was one of my best dining experiences. Go!

We used to visit this wonderful location regularly in summer but recently we have been disappointed- the portions are small and everything - potatoes, salad, rice, bread are all considered âextrasâ ....the location of course is unbeatable but as is often the case these places change for the worst and take advantage only of the location. I recommend it for the views but not if you are hungry.........shame.......

While touring the wine region, we stopped here at an outside table on their patio for lunch and wine. The setting was lovely. We enjoyed a cheese plate, ham and horseradish cream with a grilled fish plate and vegetables. And there is always great local wine. The service was attentive and we had a lovely lunch in a beautiful setting.Dear Guests! Thank you very much for your good rating and response. Hope to see you soon again in Wachau. Best regards Manuela Wildeis

The terms Buschenschank and Heuriger have confusing definitions but as a guest one need not care about the fine details. Both are used for typical local Austrian eateries in wine growing regions, often with atmospheric indoor and outdoor seating. What they have in common is that wine and light meals are served in a pleasant and traditional setting. Weingut Mang was recommended by our hotel as being one of the best in the village. It was apparent that both locals and tourists (bicycle groups included) frequented this Buschenschank. We enjoyed two lovely dinners here. By eating earlier we also avoided the crowds that often arrive after 7.00 pm. The servers all spoke very good English and I believe the menu was also available in English. Another good way of experimenting with their meals is look and see what others order and ask the server for an explanation.

Jamek has been an institution in the Wachau for decades now. Both for the lusciously comfortable atmosphere and the quality of everything promised...and delivered.
The location is very convenient if you are traveling along the Danube and visiting Melk or any little town such as Dürnstein. The wines both sparkling or plain white are produced in the property and are quite enjoyable. We had lunch and the service was very good. Menu in English!!!Food was also very good, and our table outside (24ºC) was a good choice.

Located on the river we sat outside for a birthday party dinner. The service was excellent, the food superb, the Wachau wines simply amazing and the outdoor seating was heavenly. It was the season for all things apricots. The steaks were delicious. We ate and drank here very well. Earlier we had met the son in this local family who of course is now also making his own wines. The place to be.
