Things to do in Rennweg

Our first experience here was great. We shared a family pizza between four of us, with a different topping on each quarter. Excellent value at about 21 Euros. The second visit was horrible. The waitress arrived to take our order. She took the drinks order and when we said we wanted pizza she told us it was too late and the pizza oven was finished for the night. We politely said we would leave to eat elsewhere and immediately stood up and started putting coats on. As we were walking out of the restaurant the waitress approached us with the tray of drinks we had ordered and demanded we pay for them! We protested and they became verbally aggressive. Some young guys at the bar got involved and I felt very threatened. As we were with our children, and we could not speak German very well, we chose to pay and leave. I would have stood my ground if I had been in England without children. I still feel angry now, almost two weeks later. I know the waitress knew we were leaving and she should not have brought the drinks.

We were initially disappointed because we thought wirsthaus meant sausage house and we were looking forward to some hearty Austrian sausages!! It means inn or pub in English, easily confused with wurst which is German for sausage! Anyway, I had pike-perch fish, and husband had schnitzel. Children were happy with their meals. Atmosphere was lively.

Right in the centre of Katschberg at the top of Konigswiesenbahn the perfect place for après ski. Excellent bar both inside & out with very good table service. Paul & family always provide a friendly atmosphere for breakfast, lunch or après drinks. Highly recommended
This review relates only to the restaurant HINTEREGGERS AINKEHR at Katschberg. Situated adjacent to the Aineck chair lift at Katschberg ski resort and not the main hotel. There is no separate restaurant listed on Tripadviser. We went to the restaurant as described above on Thursday 19th December 2013 for a lunch at about 2pm. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. There were three adults and two teenagers in our party. The service was extremely slow despite the restaurant being empty. eventually we were served by a female assistant who took our drinks order and we viewed the menu intent on eating at this establishment. Meanwhile a party of six eastern europeans entered the restaurant and sat on the table next to us.We waited and waited for our drinks. Eventually, the three hot chocolates, one large beer and water that we had ordered were delivered to the eastern european table next to us. They were served the drinks by a different female server (whom we later established was on her first day working at this restaurant). The other party gleefully accepted the drinks and after starting them told the server that they had received the wrong order. The server then brought them schnapps on a tray for THEIR inconvenience.Nobody came to our table to explain the mix up and they all avoided eye contact with our table. Twenty five minutes after first ordering the drinks and with nobody coming to take any further order or offer an explanation I asked for the restaurant boss (chief in Austrian) where our drinks were. He was indifferent in his attitude and said they they were just coming. Owing to his attitude and his / their inability to deal with the mix up, I told them to forget it and that we would leave. He was again indifferent and could not care less. there was no offer of apology or request for us to remain and they would make amends. One of the adults spoke to a male waiter on the way out and was told that female waiter was on her first day. We said that we accepted mistakes are made and felt sorry for the new waitress, but when the mistake was realised the experienced staff should have taken a course of action to rectify it. they didn't. Consequently we were very disappointed with our experience of this restaurant. They have the monopoly at the chair lift as the black and red runs end outside their front door, so I suspect that this will make little difference to them, but we will not use this family run business again.

In our Gourmet Restaurant at Katschberg we serve regional delicacies for you - like Kärntner Kasnudeln, Lungauer Käsespätzle, a tasty bacon and cheese snack and much more. As a culinary highlight, enjoy our home-ripened steaks from the open grill. We atta
Perfect place for meeting of about 15 people together, great steaks especially dry aged. Self made pesto as appetizer was top fun for all at the table.

Recommended by an employee at Landal Katschberg, this restaurant did not disappoint. Even though we don't speak or read German the staff was very helpful translating the menu. It was neat trying local dishes and they were delicious you won't go away hungry. The decor is whimsical, make sure to wander around inside an check it all out. The views of the surrounding mountains complete the meal.

We ate here on several occasions as we were staying in the self-catering Edelweiss apartments nearby. I especially like the room with the big glass windows and huge square tables, adjacent to the piste. Family-friendly, something here for everyone. Please give me a helpful vote for my review!
