Weiter so!

We were driving through Mauthausen at noon and stopped at Muhlviertlerhof for lunch. There were several people sitting outside but we got a table inside. The menu was in several languages. The female server was speaking German but she was very nice and helped us order. I had a nice snack plate with cold cuts, cheese and salad and my wife had a large salad. The food was good and the location of the restaurant on the river was scenic.

Friendly staff, our waiter assisted with the menu, as it was in german and we could not understand it very well. My wife had the fish dish, I had a Hawaiian Wiener schnitzel which was to die for. Very nice indeed. The only issue was they did not accept our Master card debit card. So had to pay cash, which caused me to have to go to the bank later in the day to pay the hotel, which also did not accept cards.

We ate at Weindlhof in July 2011. We found the place by chance, as we were looking for a restaurant for lunch. We simply followed some signs in the village of Mauthausen. And we were not disappointed by our choice... What a nice place this is..! We had lunch on the terrace, overlooking the Donau river. The chef only works with fresh, local products, simply and beautifully cooked in order to preserve their inner quality. The lamb was absolutely delicious and so tender. The dessert was brilliantly executed and it was worth waiting! (see picture). We have been quite impressed with the excellent quality-price ratio of this amazing, gastronomic restaurant. We strongly recommend it.

From the absolutely beautiful setting and charming construction and decor to the superb customer service and gourmet local cuisine, this restaurant is the complete package. We normally don't dine at places like this because we tend to travel on a tight budget, but we stopped in at around 10 am just to inquire as to whether we could leave our car parked in their huge gravel parking area under the trees while we visited the Mauthausen Memorial just up the road. We had our dog with us and though it was a cool morning, we preferred to leave her in the shade. Though the restaurant wasn't open yet, the doors were wide open so I entered. A server who didn't speak English went to find someone who did. I believe the gentleman she found was the owner or co-owner. He was very friendly and said of course it was ok. We returned at 11 am when they opened and dined at the restaurant, mostly to "thank them" for letting us park there. As it turned out, it was superb! The same gentleman who told us we could park there came over to our table and went through the menu, item by item, explaining each dish. It was written in German and we had no idea what any of the items even were. We ended up ordering coffee, which was excellent, and two desserts: the topfen heidelbeerstrudel mit vanillesoÃe (blueberry swirrel with cheese curd custard) and the erdbeerroulade, a soft cake with strawberries and rich whipped cream. Ooo la la, they were good, especially the erdbeerroulade! Another server helped us as well, and she was equally friendly and spoke English. When I paid inside, the gentleman behind the bar was also very friendly and was quite gracious when I asked if it was customary to tip servers in Austria (I had no idea! It is customary). The entire time we dined, which was quite some time while we enjoyed the peaceful setting and warm breezes, our dog slept in the sun near us. On top of everything else, they're dog friendly. We would definitely return to dine there!

Didn't stay here but ate here an a daily basis for 4 days. A group of friends stayed as part of a cycling event. Staff were brilliant nothing was a problem for them. When we left the area they even offered a packed lunch for the journey! Over and above! If in the area again will definitely try to book here and hope they won't be fully booked this time.
Popped in here for a few drinks on a cycling holiday. Great reviews on TA. Sounds like a great addition to the town. Bright, modern outlook. Plenty outdoor tables. A bit strange that when I asked for the WiFi password, they told me they didnât have WiFi. When I pointed out the two tabs that came up in settings, they explained - albeit apologetically - that the WiFi is for internal use only. Ummmm. What? A brand new establishment... not sharing their WiFi? Ok. Minor gripe. The beer was good and reasonably priced. But cmon guys. SHARE THE WIFI!Hi, thanks for your Feedback. We appreciate that you liked your visit. We'll try to organise free WIFI for our guests as soon as possible! But for now we're happy about our guests talking with each other in person :) All the best, Verena
