Things to do in Mittersill
Right on town square of Mittersill is the small Restaurant Meilinger Taverne in an 350 year old historic red building. 70 seats inside in two locations and 12 seats on the terrasse in front of the house. Anneliese Klackl and her small team offer Austrian
We just had dinner at the Meilinger Taverne yesterday. After Robert closed down, Mittersill was lacking and excellent restaurant. Now with the owner of Kraftwerk in Zell am See, taking over this previously outstanding restaurant, a new class came back to town. We had the 3 course menu and each course was excellent. The staff and the presentation of the food was also excellent. The restaurant is still in restructuring and not finished yet, but at this stage you can already see they are on the right track. The cherry on the top is the adjacent wine shop (vinothek) which is currently also under construction. As the owners are sommeliers these are very promising ingredients for a fantastic successful food temple. We have been regular guests at the old Mailinger Taverne and we also will be again enthusiastic fans of the changed and even better version of the former one. Good luck to the owners and we are looking forward to more fantastic food and excellent wines.

From reviews on TripAdvisor we learned that this probably is a nice place to go. It is indeed! As was said in some earlier reviews, do not count on the classic Austrian kitchen, as you may find in Meilinger Taverne. (Do note that it's a bit more expensive too - but worth it!!) The dishes are "modern", sometimes with an Italian touch, and the description in the menu alone made my mouth water. I had a lovely starter of "Ziegenkäse" on spinach. The main course was absolutely fantastic; "Catch of the day" (Rotbarsch; I think it's called redfish in English) with an amazing 'risotto' of quinoa, couscous and langustine. The lovely taste kept lingering in my mouth right until dessert, which was white chocolate cheesecake. It was very good too, as was the small bonbon accompanying the tea. Except for tasting very well, the dishes were lovely to look at too. The personnel was very friendly and professional, and still easy to chat with. I loved this experience and really don't have anything negative to say about this restaurant.

We stopped a number of times at this lovely hut for lunch and elevensies. It is beautifully decorated inside with a great fireplace that offers racks to dry your ski gear as we had to during a little snowstorm. The food is fresh and very tasty and the service was very good. One of the few huts that offers service to the table. Outside it offers a lovely sun terrace with blankets and comfy seats.

One of the best parts of the downhill ski experience is pulling off the boots. Here, easily done. The barmaid was gorgeous and lovely. We shared a pizza she suggested. Fellows at the bar engaged this solo traveller in conversation and treated for a round of drinks. Food, company and hospitality memorably great.

Had a lovely meal with my girlfriend. Fantastically cooked local cuisine, very reasonably prices and friendly service. They have their own beer brewed just a short distance away. Very delicious and refreshing. Highly recommend this restaurant. The only trouble is they allow smoking which could be off putting to some. Otherwise this was a good dining experience.

Hotel Schloss Mittersill reflects the perfect symbiosis of tradition and modernity. Even today, the splendour of bygone times can be sensed in our rooms and suites: elegant parquet floors, precious antique furniture and paintings accentuate the grandeur o

We had some coffee and soft drinks. The service was good. If you walk through the restaurant you can find a table on the balcony with a nice view of the wally.

This is indeed the best place to eat in the area. If you are there on Friday - don't even consider any alternatives. They have a fresh fish delivery and serve it perfectly. Today we had turbot which was great. People there are very kind so atmosphere is also very nice. And of curse great view from the restaurant: Hohe Tauern panorama. If only they were open each day till late....Definitely recommendedThank you so much. Hope to see you again.Fam. Seber

Situated at top of the pass (1800m) between The Tirol and Salzburger Land it has wonderful views over the Felbertaurn towards the GroÃGlockner which youcan enjoy from the terraces you eat. The food is typically Austrian and very good. The Breitmoos (Peppersauce) steak has the reputation of being the best in the area,I think this underrates it, Iâve never eaten better .the accompanying butter roasted/ sautéed potatoes are simply Devine. This family run Gasthof oozes Austrian Gemütlichkeit. The service is warm and welcoming. If youâre anywhere within 50kms no make that a 100km take time to visit it. My wife and I have visited many times and the food and service has always remained excellent .Incidently the keynote steak is available in a Senior portion.I usually have difficulty in giving any review 5 Stars but Iâd give this one 6 if I could. Not for fancy food but because it represents everything that you might expect from Austriaâs famed hospitality , good food, good service, good portions at reasonable prices.
