Things to do in Deutschlandsberg

Luckily this hotel had been recommended to us, because it's not mentioned in our Austrian guide book. Our two single rooms felt like little apartments, what a great surprise. I figure the pix speak for themselves. Very clean, very friendly, great local food. We ended up staying 2 more nights, as there is quite a bit to do around the area as well. Including the best pastries I had in a long time, almost opposite the hotel. We left the car at the hotel parking area (it's free!!) and took the train to Graz (the capital of Styria). The train station is only 3 min walking min away and takes only 40 min into the city of Graz. In the eve we used the hotel Sauna and their Infrared Cabin (it's free too!!). It's small, and a good idea to either tell staff or turn the heater up your self before you go down. We felt most welcome and where treated like family members. Can truly recommend this place.

My new friends took me to Stocklpeter after a visit to the castle. We had reservations; however, the restaurant was not busy for midday in the winter. When the waitress found out that I spoke English, she came over and explained the entire menu to me. I was thankful and thrilled with the great service.I had the grilled chicken salad. Although the grilled chicken was a little dry, the salad dressing helped. It wasn't until a few days later that I discovered the dressing was green due to the green pumpkin seed oil that is popular in the area. It was good.Stocklpeter is a great place to have a nice lunch or dinner with family or friends.

Good restaurant with a simple and genuine cooking, meat is good and perfectly cooked, in generous portions.I suggest the maxi-course for two people, with grilled and fried meat. Sausages are also special, and served separately, so you can add them on the meat just if you want. Good Weiss beer and discrete choice of wine, thought very expensive.

This 12th-cent. castle, now a 4-star hotel with charming rooms, suites, gourmet restaurant and museum, lies in an idyllic setting surrounded by vineyards and the gentle hill country of south-west Styria. Guests enjoy total relaxation and glorious views fr
An amazing experience! We stayed overnight in this romantic castle and had the most inspirational food ever. The idea of a surprise 3,4 or 5 course menu allows for food preferences but the menu is chosen for you, as a surprise. The chef Karl Kollmann prepared tantalisingly delicious food with local Austrian ingredients that was creative and superbly presented. We couldn't wait to see each course as it appeared. The service was friendly and attentive without being invasive. We have eaten at restaurants all over the world and this has to be one of the best ever!!
