It is about 12 kilometres (7 mi) southwest of the city of Bolzano.

This is a small, unpretentious restaurant easily found on the road from Caldaro to Mendel Pass. There is a small, pleasant garden and the menu is quite small. What is available, however, is fresh, tasty and homemade. We had the spicy pasta with salad and polenta with fresh chanterelles and cheese. Both very good. We also had the best strudel of a two week stay in the area. Service is friendly and prices reasonable.

Fur das Mittagsessen mal nach diesem Lokal, keiner da, aber eine sehr freundliche wirtin. Es gab nur brotzeit, kein problem! Flasche gewurztraminer vom haus (18 euro) und dazu zwei mal speck, ein kase brettl und eine kaminwurz. Keine Karte mit preise also eine uberrasschung am ende, die brotzeit war 44 euro, kann .... aber an andere stellen kostet es bedeutig weniger.

Anche quest'anno siamo ritornati a Malga Fane per respirare la montagna, dopo una bella camminata sino alle sorgenti del torrente, siamo tornati a pranzare al ristorante Gattererhof. Il pranzo, prettamente tirolese, era squisito ed abbondante, il servizio pronto e gentile con un prezzo conveniente. Abbiamo mangiato un kaisensmarrn, rigatoni alla pastora, uova-parate e speck, 1 lt acqua gassata, birre piccole e due caffè per un tot di â¬uro 41, 20. Pranzo eccellente e di qualità , da provare assolutamente.

Not knowing where to go near our Pensione on the Strada del Vino one evening, we chose this place because from the road it look quaint and traditional. We thought we would get typical cuisine, but were disappointing. The staff was friendly but slow as molasses, and the food was ordinary and overpriced. We paid 87 euros for three, including the Kalter See Hof House Plate for 2 (mixed grill, nothing typical or extraordinary on the flaming platter) and a couple of veggie plates. The place is also a hotel, so the restaurant is clearly designed to accommodate hotel guests. Not worth anyone else going.

Oberhalb von Kaltern, in der kleinen Ortschaft Oberplanitzing, befindet sich der Speckkeller der Familie Sölva. Das Haus aus dem 16. Jhd. ist von Weingärten umgeben, die Vater und Sohn bewirtschaften.Der Keller ist eine urige und gemütliche Jausenstation, in der neben dem Hauswein auch Produkte aus der Landwirtschaft angeboten werden. Die Mutter steht in der Küche und zaubert herzhafte Gerichte, wie z.B. Schlutzkrapfen, Knödel-Tris, Gulasch oder Kaiserschmarren. Neben den warmen Gerichten gibt es auch verschiedenste kalte Jausenspezialitäten.Der eigene Wein kann ruhig mit Erzeugnissen renommierter Winzer mithalten, wie z.B. der Lagreiner Barrique oder der Cabernet Sauvignon.Wer einen tollen Weinkeller mit bodenständiger südtiroler Küche sucht, der ist im Speckkeller bestens aufgehoben.Die Jausenstation ist von Ostern bis Ende Juni und im Zeitraum August bis Mitte November von 18 bis 24 Uhr geöffnet (kein Ruhetag).

Toevallig voor de lunch hier gearriveerd en moeten zeggen dat het hier perfect verzorgd is. Nette en attente bediening, mooie wijnkaart, en het eten is heel bijzonder. De familienplatte die we kregen was van veel lekkers voorzien en alles in top kwaliteit. Het brood was ook erg lekker, kortom hier komen we graag nog eens terug.

It was a bit rainy the day we stopped here on our drive through the vineyards of Kaltern, South Tyrol in Italy. From the road it's a bit inconspicuous, but I'm sure it's very popular. The biergarten appears to be the home to lots of events. I can imagine that it rocks. I can't say much about the food. We stopped just to have a drink and were delighted to discover they offer a gluten-free beer. I had two. What impressed me was how professional the staff is. They were all out drying the tables and benches and chairs when it stopped raining. They were friendly and attentive.
