The family that owns the restaurant also raises ostriches so they (the birds, not the family) are on the menu--worth a try. The food was very well prepared; the menu was more extensive than is typical in small town Austrian restaurants. As often in Austria, the interior of the restaurant itself is a beautiful work of art. This place is way way off the beaten track--no one I know has ever even heard of this village, much less of the restaurant itself. If you find it, you are an explorer, but it's worth the effort.

Letzten Freitag waren wir in der Waldschenke, wir saÃen an einem Tisch im Freien mit Blick auf den Fischteich und den Wald und aÃen zu zweit eine Portion mit verschiedenen Aufstrichen, die sehr gut waren. Dazu tranken wir Uhudler.Ein empfehlenswertes Gasthaus!

As this was stated to be a pub with food on a budget I was pleasantly surprised how lovely an ambience it had especially sitting outside. It felt very romantic in the evening with the lights in the trees. It was busy but it is a massive place when t g e weather is nice therefore including the outside seating area. Food was very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and helpful and food was served in good timeframes.

Nach dem Thermen Aufenthalt haben wir noch im Restaurant zu Mittag gegessen.Es gab ähnliche Gerichte, wie auch im Hotel selbst... Gulasch, Backhendl Salat, Schnitzel...War auch sehr lecker und liebevoll angerichtet.Das Dessert hätten wir uns allerdings besser gespart. Der Topfenstrudel samt Vanillesauce entsprach nicht unserem Geschmack. Auch das Vanilleeis im Eiskaffee hätte appetitlicher und ohne Eisklumpen sein können.Der Kellner war sehr freundlich. Allerdings hat man ihm dann schon angemerkt, dass es viel wurde, als mehrere Gäste gleichzeitig bestellen / zahlen wollten.Richtwert Preise:2 Erwachsene mit je 2 HS, 2 NS und 2 Getränken und Kaffee... Ca 40 Euro

When we were there the place was not really crowded but the "Reserved" signs on the tables gave a slight idea on how crowded this place could be and how many people like going there later in the evening. I ordered a Schnitzel and a mixed salad and unfortunately forgot to mention I´d prefer a small portion. Well ... when the waitress arrived with the plate I was REALLY SHOCKED as there was (not exaggerated) a MOUNTAIN of 3 huge Schnitzel on the plate (⬠9,90). It didn´t even look very dainty. While started I was SOOO disappointed of the coat of breadcrumbs as well as of the quality of the meat. Not to forget the salad which I wanted to eat instead: I just COULD NOT FINISH it because of the very strange taste of the marinade (No, it was not because of the pumpkin seed oil, which I really love. It was something different which was just ugly). So I left over two and a half Schnitzel to bring the dog. I asked the waitress if she could wrap it for me. Instead she just gave me the foil to do it myself. Hm...For the location itself: Nice view from the big winter garden into the green, elsewise not worth visiting ... except it was just immense misfortune. You never know...

Man muss sich ein wenig auf Ãberraschungen einlassen, denn das Degustationsmenue wird offensichtlich preislich und auch kulinarisch vom Chef persönlich zusammengestellt. Wir waren spontan hier und genossen sowohl Aussicht als auch alle 9 Portionen. Letztlich zahlten wir pro Person 33,- ohne Getränke. Das Service war anfänglich ein bisserl langsam, aber Portion für Portion wurde es immerkompetenter und hat uns ebenfalls sehr begeistert. EIne tolle Location mit schöner Aussicht und wunderbar frischen leckeren Tapas. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Freundliche BegrüÃung durch den Besitzer ist dort selbstverständlich und Parkplätze sind vor dem Haus. Es gibt immer ein Tagesmenü, das zu empfehlen ist. Diesmal gab es Bratwurst mit Gemüsenudeln und vorher eine gute Suppe. Der Gasthof ist immer gut besucht, angenehm zu erreichen und die Tische sind immer schön gedeckt. Ebenso für Feiern ist ein Saal vorhanden, daher für jeden Anlass empfehlenswert, besonders in dieser schönen Umgebung.

Farmers restaurant with great fresh vegetables and meat, cheese, and bread. Really enjoy the local wines, straight or blended as spritzers. Quality is excellent and price very reasonable for such high quality.

I was there with my girlfriend and we both enjoyed it a lot. It was not overcrowded, but also not empty. It's a typical local restaurant, mostly cold food, excellent wine, good traditional food and nice service. It was definitely a good choice to go there.
