We just loved this place! A friend of us who lives in this region took us to dinner, and without hesitation, the meals were the best at this place among several ones we tried in Goetzen and Innsbruck. Highly recommend grilled meat selections.

We came from Stift Stams (wonderful place)and had been looking for a place to eat but due to the off-season most restaurants are closed,finally we ended up in Kematen,The Altwirt is a typical country restaurant with good solid food and nice service,definitely worth a second visit.

Vom Parkplatz des Skigebiets geht man auf der ForststraÃe ca. 45 Minuten (mit den Schlitten) zur Hütte. Dort sind auch Skifahrer (wenn der Pleisenlift geöffnet ist), dann wird es schon mal sehr voll. Das Essen ist rustikal und richtig gut (Selbstbedienung), das Meiste kommt aus heimischer Produktion, die Schnäpse setzt der freundliche Wirt selbst an. Eine richtig schöne Hütte zum Einkehren und GenieÃen, und die Abfahrt mit den Schlitten auf der gut gepflegten Bahn ist noch das Tüpfelchen auf dem i.

We ate in the restaurant this evening and found the food to be plentiful and well-cooked. The schnitzel von Kalb was very tender and there were more pommes frittes than you would know what to do with. The salmon was nicely prepared and well presented with vegetables and potatoes.About 40 Euro for two mains and two glasses of wine. Limited wine available by the glass though.

Lovely spot that became our go to place practically every day while we were staying in Axams. Our accommodation included a swimming pass so we dropped by the very first day and kept coming back. We tried the traditional cuisine as well as paninis, pizza & their ice cream menu. All were very reasonably prized & a great price-quality.Staff was very friendly, maybe because we became regulars for the very short time we were here, but still. Fast service of good food with a smile

Wonderfully situated at the top of the Olympiabahn, you have a great view of the surrounding area and pistes.The restaurant is beautiful outside and in, but the prices are higher than in the valley, but not to expensive.It is not a budget restaurant, but to eat here with this view is wonderful

Excellent value for money - had to have weiner schnitzel of course - followed by shredded pancakes with apples. we began with mojitos, had a glass each of local red wine as recommended by our (very helpful and friendly) waitress. Total bill tonight was 45E. Food was delicious, and we had the added bonus of the town wind band assembling beneath the outdoor balcony dressed in their Tyrollean outfits.

We were made so welcome by the owner who was our waiter for the night(Wednesday) he spoke good English,explained the food and looked after us, food was excellent and prices really good, him and his partner have run this place for 31 years which pretty much says it all
