Things to do in Moruya
As always, when we are housesitting in a new town we head to Trip Advisor for advice on where to eat. John and Willys is a delightful, tiny lunch place where we found an amazing range of freshly prepared, healthy (and some not so healthy) food to enjoy for lunch. John and Willys is a half cottage next to the Moruya Museum. There are a few tiny outside tables on the verandah and in the front garden. All very eclectic but very popular. We found a table for two on the verandah and enjoyed our lunch. The venue is only open for weekday lunches 10.30 till 2.30pm but it services well the needs of those working locally and the odd tourists. Excellent coffee and selections of hot or cold foods, and many vegetarian and vegan offerings. Soups, pastries and pies form part of the hot food range available and in the fridges many wonderful choices, salads, wraps and frittatas. The brownies and lemon slice offerings are a definite danger with the great coffee. I like the way food comes wrapped in tissue in brown paper bags and that is how you eat it, no crockery or cutlery, save for the nice metal mugs for coffee if eating in. Lunches can be easily picked up and taken to a local park for a picnic. This venue is very efficiently run with minimum staff and healthy options for lunch. We have been back 3 times in 8 days, and those lemon slices will definitely add to our waitlines.

On a recent visit to Moruya we decided to try the Moruya Bowls Club for lunch. It is an older style dining room area which could do with a update. We chose from the daily special menu of fish and chips with salad, and the roast with vegetables. The service was quite prompt and we were quite satisfied with the meals provided and the cost of same. We would return another time for lunch.

Was looking forward to a steak with my dad but at $35 it was not an option. Would have been nice if the pub had put on the wood fire - it was freezing . Maybe a better on the river summer time venue . No complaints about the food though - burgers delicious !Glad you guys enjoyed your burgers! We have a scotch steak on the menu for $28 - it's a 300g cut of premium grade grassfeed beef. You can get the surf & turf (served with pan cooked prawns) for $35. Next time you are in, just ask one of our staff if you're having trouble finding something on the menu :)Sincerely,Hannah

Called in for an afternoon snack..Shared the crumbed flounder, salad and chip special which was lovely. And finally a place that makes old school milkshakes that way they are meant to be made and with malt! Friendly and timely service...what more could you ask for!

We all loved our meals, the salads are delicious and the smoothies are amazing. The outdoor courtyard is very pleasant to sit and have our lunch.

My husband and I decided to go to Gundary's today (8/10) for a coffee and cake. We walked in at 11.50 am, not knowing that they close at 12.00 on Sunday. There were no cakes in the cabinet, having been put away, but the cake description cards were still there. We were told that they close at 12, so we offered to leave. But the nice man behind the counter said to place an order and tell him which cake we wanted and he would deliver it to our table. We both ordered the carrot cake and a weak latte for my husband and a flat white extra hot and no froth for me. Both were mugs. The cakes arrived to our table and were generous slices. They were very moist and full of carrot. The best carrot cake I have eaten The coffees were good, mine extra hot but I would have liked a little less froth. Me being picky. We both enjoyed our coffee and the cake was delicious. Such a difference from our last visit which was a big disappointment and we did not return. We will definitely return after today's visit. Service was very polite and helpful. Many thanks

Nothing wrong with the service just inadequate food, too much fuss and not enough substance. I guess you would say not my style of food, too fussed over. Wine by the glass is $14.
