Drink Hot, Breakfast and lunch well @thecafe1839. Brewing the best coffee in the town, fresh, local and healthy food for any mood made with love and a friendly service with a smile.
Called in for coffees and shelter on a wet and windy winterâs day. We got a cheerful welcome from the staff behind the counter. Itâs a small cosy and warming place. The coffees were fine and we look forward to returning to try their lovely looking food.

Called in for Sunday lunch with the Roast of the Day and was served up a large plate with good assortment of vegetables- cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, carrots, peas, plus small cut roast potatoes. Reasonable amount of pork, but no crackling. Besides the disappointment of the missing crackling the meal was OK. It tasted like servery food and so was average in flavour. Good size meal but average taste. If you travel to Hahndorf and want an experience you might be better looking at another dining option as this dining area is small and lacks any atmosphere. If you want a good size meal at reasonable prices then the Old Mill could be for you. PS. They also offer a larger smorgasbord option. Cheapest on Tuesday ($19). Mon, Wed-Frid at next level cost and $39 on Sundays

We enjoyed the seafood chowder with soda bread. The soup was filled with seafood and vegetables. The soda bread was rich and dense, the best we have had for many years. The meal was satisfying and delicious. We followed it with good coffee. I recommend The Plough, Hahndorf for lunch and coffee.

As we were staying at the Hahndorf Resort, we thought that we would drop into their The Three Gums bistro for breakfast. They serve a great breakfast and have a good variety of choice at a reasonable price. Our kids had the pancakes with maple syrup and cream, we had the big breakfast and all were delicious. They also serve a very nice coffee and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Would definitely go back here on our next trip to Hahndorf.

The family and I loved our lunch at this cafe. With hot dogs under $10, and options for sausages, sauerkraut, pretzel and salad plates for $14, this place is great value for money. We enjoyed choosing different sausage options, and also appreciated the gluten free bun options for the hot dogs. Highly recommended.

Just a little stroll off the Hahndorf Academy/Centre is this little restaurant which combine es nice Australian cuisine with an arty ambience. We very much enjoyed the excellent service, which was at times a little rushed. The Brussel sprouts were nice but almost a bit overpowered by garlic! Mains (pulled lamb shoulder and haloumi) were excellent, the apple crumble outstanding! Hello! (Hallo) Thank you for your review. It was really wonderful having you with us. With the lantern festival taking place in town, all-day Saturday had been very busy day for us and your smiles and positivity were very much appreciated. So thank you! :-) I am very glad to know that you enjoyed your food overall, and we appreciate your thoughts regarding the Brussels sprouts. I will pass this onto the kitchen team. Thank you again for joining us, and I wish you well on the rest of your holiday. Kind regards, Erica

Although service was friendly and quick after ordering food, there was no follow up concerning drinks. I had a beef schnitzel, which was passable but not upto their usual standards, i tried one of their chips but fidnt eat the rest as they tasted fishy. I have an allergy to crustaceans and couldnt trust the chips in case they were fried in the same oil as the prawns they serve.Other than those negatives everything else was great.Hello Greg,Thank you for taking your time to leave a review and complimenting the staff and service at our Haus.We are disappointed to hear about your experience with your beef schnitzel and chips. We take great pride in our food and we apologise that this wasnât delivered on this occasion. We will pass on your important feedback to our management team.We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to The Haus, so that you may have the dining experience that we are known for.Kind regards,Haus Management Team
