We stopped off here on a roadtrip through to Wilson's prom. We ordered 2 burgers, a pizza, parma and steak. You do have to order all sides separately and pay extra for them, but we still found it very reasonably priced, especially considering the quality. The burgers were exceptional and the special cheese sauce on one of them was divine. One of the nicest, if not THE nicest burger I've ever had.The 500g steak had been butterflied a little on the thin side for our taste, meaning that the outer edge cooked quicker and was more well done than the middle, but the quality of the meat was spot on, as was the creamy mushroom sauce that came with it.Our only regret is that we might not get chance to visit this restaurant again and try more from the menu.Tip: If you've stopped off here for a meal on the way to or from Wilson's Prom, it's definitely worth taking half an hour or so to explore the little town. Fish Creek is beautiful and has several galleries and lovely shops that are worth a visit.

The iconic Fish Creek Hotel Motel (1939) is a magnificently imposing Art Deco building located in the heart of artistic Fish Creek. The restaurant features an extensive menu of fresh, seasonal and regional produce that highlights the best South Gippsland
Expect to book for a dinner session on a long weekend. This is a really popular place to eat on a Saturday night. Mixed crowd of families, friends and couples all enjoying the solid menu and top notch local wine options - many offered by the glass. The service was prompt and responsive, while being friendly and cheerful, yet not overwhelming.Meals offered were what can be expected at a traditional regional pub - Parma's, Fisherman's Baskets and Steaks - with the the standout in our group being the Barramundi - leading to food envy for several of us.Recently renovated, this landmark displays it's history in pictures as you walk through the door.Parking is a breeze also.

We felt welcome as soon as we entered the winery -such a friendly host and staff. The wines were lovely and we shared an amazing platter of local foods. So pleasant and relaxing to eat and drink overlooking a wonderful view of the vines and hills. Certainly on the list for a return visit next time we come to the Prom.

On our way back from a few nights visiting family in Gippsland we saw this gorgeous little cafe and stopped for my much anticipated morning coffee. Upon walking through the doors my husband returned to me waiting outside with our dog, to say âI think we should stay for an early lunchâ! The display caught his eye..., delicious home made pies, sausage rolls and lasagne. And not only did they look good they tasted amazing! Coffee was also top notch. Oh and for those with a sweet tooth, plenty of yummy cakes and slices to choose from. I had the apple and rhubarb cake yum! Worth calling in on your travels or making a day trip for a relaxed lunch either inside or in the well cared for garden. Congratulations to the staff who are friendly and welcoming.

When I last visited the Foster Golf Club the young English chef, "Wiggy", had just arrived. A year or so later I was delighted to discover that he's still there. We were lucky enough to strike "Steak Night". If you're a carnivore it's not to be missed. I ordered a medium-rare porterhouse. It was cooked precisely as ordered, was tasty and succulent. At $25 on Steak Night it's a steal. Chef "Wiggy" is a great asset to the Club! He cooks with care and passion and has produced a menu that exceeds expectations for a country golf club. Wiggy's is closed on Monday and Tuesday and you'd probably be better off taking the short drive the the excellent pub at Fish Creek than dining locally.

We were visiting family and friends in Foster. We decided to visit Promontory Restaurant and Winery for lunch. Chris our waiter was very professional and knowledgeable. The meals were exceptional and the service was faultless. The views were breathtaking and only contributed to our experience. This restaurant is ideally located on top of the range just outside Foster. I am originally from this area and the countryside and the country hospitality always brings me back. Definitely put this restaurant on your places to visit. It would make an ideal venue for weddings and functions. Thank you Chris for a memorable day.

Max's Cafe & Restaurant, - our in-house new and exciting venue at the Prom Country Lodge, 3800 South Gippsland Highway, Foster - on the doorstep to Wilsons Promontory. OPEN 7 days a week,- weekdays 7am and 8am weekends - great coffee, barista on site ever
We dined at Maxâs restaurant after an excursion from Port Welshpool and it seemed logical to stay overnight before the 3 hour drive back to the Mornington peninsula. It was a long day out on the water with the dolphins and the whales so it called for only a one course meal - how we wish we could have sampled more of their amazing fare! We opted for the oven baked barramundi after learning that it was not -as surmised, frozen, but flown in fresh from Humptydoo way up north) and the local beef fillet was a winner. The barramundi was served with scalloped potatoes. Roasted fennel with sultanas and pine nuts and a spinach purée- absolute bliss - the barramundi melted like butter! The local Beef lived up to its reputation and was also served with scalloped potatoes and fresh beans -needing nothing more! What a delicious surprise - in the Gippsland town of Foster !
