Herd Bar & Grill incorporates an urban meets rural interior offering something unique and completely new to the Yarra Valley. This subterranean bunker wouldnât be out of place in the city and has been likened to any groovy bar in New York City. Chef Trevo
Had a Sunday evening booking for 14 made 2 weeks in advance. When we arrived cafe was almost empty. When given our menus we were advised that 3 of the seven mains were unavailable which quickly became 4 unavailable as we placed our orders. Our meals arrived in dribs and drabs with our last vegetable plate being served just as everyone had completed their meals. Most meals were OK to good unfortunately side dishes appeared to be over cooked or reheated. Our table attendant was pleasant but counter staff were indifferent to our discussions on what we had found. Understanding that there was 14 in our party and we had a confirmed booking 2 weeks in advance, in my experience Herd did not meet the reviews here and elswhere and I would be hesitant in a positive recommendation. Thanks rickh4257 for taking the time to share of your recent experience,I tend to agree with you... running out of food is one of my pet hates, however, it is a fine line getting it right especially on the eve before closing for rest days....In response to your comments. Our restaurant that evening although quiet upon arrival, as you would of noticed soon filled up. We regret and it is with sincere apologies that those main course items were not available that evening. Our chef is very consistent with ordering, and it did take us by surprise the amount of unannounced walk ins during what was such a wintry Friday and Saturday. We certainly didn't want to purchase an inferior product to try and replace the great protein we receive from our regular trusted suppliers ( who unfortunately don't deliver on a Sunday). We assure you all our food is cooked 'a la carte' and just as the Negroni cocktail did take a little longer to arrive at your table so did some of your food, as can be the case sometimes with large group bookings and a busy restaurant. This is why for groups of 10 or more we ask that you go onto a set menu, as we made an exception for your group of 14 to order a la carte, we would have thought some patience and understanding during service would come our way, our chef, barman and waitress only have one set of hands each! Your overall experience is rare and does not echo what we are about as mentioned by all the favorable reviews here and elsewhere. We hope you take faith in visiting us again, if so, perhaps a smaller group and I'm sure your experience will be completely different. Kind regards, the team at Herd Bar

We had an absolute ball at Tarrawarra. The property is absolutely beautiful. We started off with a wine tasting, their wines are beautiful. We then went into the restaurant and were welcomed by their friendly staff. All the food was incredible and matched perfectly with their wines. Itâs a quite, small and professional space. Itâs small enough to keep the beautiful atmosphere, which most wineries in the Yarra Valley lack. Perfect for anything from business meetings to a romantic date.

In our travels in the Yarra Valley we had lunch at the Fergusson winery. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Lunch was served as a buffet with carved roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, horseradish, buns, several salads and a variety of nicely prepared vegetables. They were genius with the amount of beef. They also accommodated gluten and dairy allergies. Very worth the visit.

Situated at Balgownie Estate in the Yarra Valley and within an hour of Melbourne, Rae's is an ideal venue for any occasion - a romantic getaway, that long-awaited girlie weekend or just an excuse to escape. From casual coffeeâs to hearty breakfasts, chic
We were booked for dinner 7.30pm upon arrival sitting on the entrance steps were a group of druken revellers smoking !Once inside it was no better , a large group of loud noisy drunks around the bar that is in the dining area ! It was like a football club bar !The waitress did apologize saying it was a function group that had been there since 2pm drinking all day .It was so loud and offensive we were forced to leave . never again !! if you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner spot , avoid at all cost !! Plenty of other wonderful restaurants close by .Thank you for your candid review. We take pride in our service and aim to create the perfect ambience for our diners. Unfortunately, at times, one group may affect the experience of others and we're disappointed to hear that your romantic experience wasn't as expected. We value for feedback and shall take it into account to serve our guests with a memorable and cherishable dining experience. That being said, we'd love for you to visit Rae's again and indulge in our decadent meals and award winning wines with the perfect setting. Till then, have a nice day and thanks again for taking the time to share your experience. We highly appreciate it and use it to improve our services for our guests.

The Steels Gate story centres on winemakers Brad Atkins and Matthew Davis who have been producing wine from their âHome Blockâ at the very top of Steels Creek in the Yarra Valley Since 2010. Brad and Matt have travelled and lived overseas and returned to
Myself and my family ventured out to Steels Gate Winery from Healesville, and were stunned at every facet. Location is beautiful, food is mouth watering (and perfect sized serves) and the service is very attentive, and all this is before the wine. The location speaks for itself, and living locally we have a lot of great wine, but Steels Gate has stuck as a favourite for a reason. Cannot recommend enough! Thanks for the positive feedback and so glad you enjoyed your experience with us. Looking forward to seeing you again. Regards brad

Last time I came here was only for the wine tasting. Then discovered this nice Italian restaurant and decided to give it a try.Came here for dinner. Tried a few dishes throughout the menu. Classic Italian food, classic Italian flavours. Sharing dishes are mostly cured meats. I think it could do a few more options. We had pasta dishes too. Pasta was nicely cooked. Chef didn't try to make dishes over the top. They are just comfortable flavours in modern style. However, we didn't have any dessert because none of the options attracted us. I wish dessert could be more creative rather than just chocolate cake and panna cotta. Overall dining experience was enjoyable.Price was reasonable as well.

YARRAWOOD ESTATE's Cellar Door & Café enjoys outstanding 360-degree views over the vineyard, lake, and Yarra Valley beyond. Visitors can sample the full range of YARRAWOOD Tall Tales wines, or simply relax with a glass of wine and a delicious meal. During
We have been to Yarrawood on a number of occassions and always found it to be one of those places were you could sit back enjoy their cellar and their foodThey are now doing breakfast on Sat and Sundays which I would recommend and their winter menu. For a lovely drop of wine (and I am not wine expert) ask for their barrel range which only comes by the bottle so if you have a group well worth sharing

Less than an hour's drive from Melbourne, the De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate is a vibrant, family friendly winery, overlooking the valley's rolling hills. Enjoy the views and warm hospitality while sharing good wine, good food and good times with family a
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and wine in the large upstairs Locale Restaurant with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and vines. Loved the Tiramisu, the best tasting one I have ever had. The cellar door is downstairs with the gift shop and a very impressive room showcasing all the awards the winery has collected over many years.SophieThanks for your lovely feedback on our cellar door and restaurant.Thew views from our restaurant are spectacular even at this time of the year, with the magnolias starting to bloom and everything is looking so wonderfully green around the venue.Cheers...Guest Relations Manager

Hard working staff and hospitable service welcomed me to a very busy restaurant. I waited for a table with no issue, watched as they turned tables over for booking seamlessly. My eye fillet was awesome and just what I needed at the end of a very tiring day. Plenty of great options on the menu here with good recommendations from staff. Thanks Hi Michelle, it appears that you have a very good understand the hospitality industry ('watched as they turned tables over for booking seamlessly'). As you would know it take big team effort to bring everything together and it is wonderful to read that you enjoyed our meals and service. Thank you very much for such a wonderful review as all our staff appreciate it very much. Best regards Kristina.
