Locally owned and operated Sandwich bar and cafe. Serving freshly made sandwiches, breakfast, lunch and local Blynzz coffee. Take away and phone orders are welcome.
We stopped off at Beechworth on the way to Brae Restaurant which is in southern Victoria. We were looking for breakfast quite early on the Saturday morning. The town was very quiet as it was a cold winters morning and not much open . Found Granite Cafe which was buzzing with locals and found out why . The service was cheery and quick and the food was good - eggs Benedict , good poached eggs with the best crispy bacon .Hey, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your breakfast with us. Looking forward to seeing you again when you next pop into Beechworth. Kind regards, Management

Lovely sitting by the open fire on a cold winters day or night The staff provided great service despite being very busy. We ordered the Duck spring rolls, Cauliflower houmous dip with warm bread and the Chicken Parma, and we were not disappointed, we enjoyed all our food Thank you

This is almost literally a hole-in-the-wall....a long, narrow room, with racked bottles on one wall, a table and a few chairs, and a bar with stools which could accommodate 4 people comfortably. Don't be deceived by the premises...this is a seriously good wine bar, staffed by folk who are both passionate and knowledgeable about wine, beer and spirits. We dropped in for a glass of wine mid-afternoon and could have stayed until close.

After attending another hotel and receiving bad service we decided to check out the hotel for a feed, we walked in and the lady was extremely friendly and welcoming, As it was good Friday we were concerned about having no table booked but the lady found us a table and was super helpful, Food came quickly and was fresh and well cooked. Other hotel should send there staff there so they can see how it's done

Came here for dinner. My friend lives in Beechworth and said it was a great example of fine dining. Our waitress was lovely the whole time. Answered lots of questions. We had goats cheese churros to begin with. I didn't rate these at all, they were just like charcoal/ash. Not to my taste.New York surloin was my main. It was delicious. Butter on top was yum as was the green salad. Truffle fries reminded me of maccas fries, tasty but nothing special (unless you love maccas fries) A highlight was the spring greens as a side. These were the tastiest veggies I think I've ever had. Well done.Too full for dessert but had a Ginger Ninja cocktail. This was so nice. Couldn't taste the alcohol at all, refreshing and could easily have many of these.Overall the food was above average, service was top notch.About $200 for all this, very reasonable

Lip smackingly good with the freshest fish, unbelievable potato cakes and some nice surprises e.g. octopus legs, crumbled sardines. Seriously, so hard to eat fish and chips elsewhere after eating here. Oh the irony - the best fish and chips in the world and itâs by a Frenchman! Must try if in Beechworth or if on the Hume on the way to or back from the snow - then detour, detour now and go!

We have visited Beechworth for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We had 3 course meal. This was one of the best meals I've ever had. Had Kangaroo as entree, was the most tender kangaroo I've ever had. Had goat as main with side of duck fat potatoes . Beautifully cooked ,potatoes were great for soaking up juices and were fantastic. I don't usually eat potato skin but these were great. Then had the honey comb desert. This was to die for. In my top 5 meals ever. All 3 courses were fantastic. Staff were great and professional. 9.99 out of 10. Only down was we went at 6:00. Maybe could open 10 minutes before time as we had to wait out in cold as 6:00 was opening time. But wasn't a big problem. Food and service well made up for wait up for itHello Steven, thank you for choosing The Ox and Hound to celebrate such a very special occasion! It was a real pleasure to look after you both. I was so happy to read your comments and thank you for the feedback regarding opening times. I hope you will visit us in beautiful Beechworth again :)

We stayed in Beechworth especially to visit Provenance. We were made most welcome and had a memorable meal with a Japanese influence. I can thoroughly recommend the hangar steak with Japanese butter served with warrigal greens and potato curls. My husband loved his Blue-eye but wasn't keen on the braised daikon, which was new to him and raved about his teapot soup with crab dumplings. Desserts were also excellent. We had been wanting to eat here for some time and were certainly not disappointed. A delicious evening with excellent and personable service.

I was not disappointed by the tea. Loose leaf Earl Grey Tea of excellent quality. The tea rooms look a tad cluttered and over stuffed with things and nic naks, which made me sit and wonder about how tiring it must be to do all that dusting . .... But there was no faultjng the tea or the beautiful way it is served. Will I return , yes , i will.
