Whitby is a seaside town, port and civil parish in the Borough of Scarborough and English county of North Yorkshire. It is located within the historic boundaries of the North Riding of Yorkshire. Situated on the east coast of Yorkshire at the mouth of the River Esk, Whitby has an established maritime, mineral and tourist heritage. Its East Cliff is home to the ruins of Whitby Abbey, where Cædmon, the earliest recognised English poet, lived. The fishing port developed during the Middle Ages, supporting important herring and whaling fleets, and was (along with the nearby fishing village of Staithes) where Captain Cook learned seamanship.

Ordered King Prawn Masala, Chicken Karahi, rice and Naan (take away). Order was ready fairly quickly. Total disappointment. The prawn dish just tasted of coconut, the chicken was well over cooked and was very minty. Even the Naan was way over cooked and tasted of nothing. Definitely wonât be going back.

Went to this place on spec, feeling hungry. Came out disappointed. Only one other table occupied when I went in, but it got a little busier. Nevertheless the service was lackadaisical and inefficient. Not only did they get my order wrong (they brought rice I didn't order, and forgot the bread that I did order), they then blamed me for ordering incorrectly. Given that I'd had a conversation with the waiter about WHICH bread to order, this seems pretty unlikely. So then I had to wait, with my food getting colder whilst they (very reluctantly) sorted it out in the kitchen. No warmers on the table. I pointed out (politely) that this was their fault, not mine. And yet not once did they accept any fault, or offer any apology. The food itself, main dish and side dish, were boring and insipid, with no evidence of fresh spicing. My naan, when it finally came, was OK. I was not made ro feel welcome as a customer. The place had no atmosphere. I decided not to leave a tip in light of all the foregoing, which mightily offended them. But a tip is for decent service, right? Would never go back. Not recommended.
