After a movie we found Saffron by driving up Westport Ave. Enjoyed our dinner. We are not well versed in Indian food so we play it safe with Tikki Masala and other simple dishes. It was very good and we plan to go back.

Having lived in Asia for many years, Chinese cuisine is a long-standing favorite. My standards may well be higher than most, accustomed to great Chinese food in so many countries in Asia, Canada, US, etc. I used to patronize Tiger Bowl often, although it was mediocre then, but had not dined here in several years. The food has seriously declined in quality. Refried leftover egg roll burned on the bottom. The wontons in the wonton soup are the cheapest quality - I've had better at little "hole-in-the-wall" cheap-Chinese outlets. The rice is not fine quality, and the pork fried rice had one little snippet of pork in it. Plenty of cashews sprinkled over the cashew-nut chicken, but it was mostly celery. My companion's meal was likewise unsatisfactory, four small shrimp buried in a pile of celery & bok choy. The sauces are limited & flavorless. Extremely disappointing. The service used to be pleasant, but now rude in the extreme. I won't return, and neither will my friend, who likewise patronized this place regularly. Despite the scarcity of Chinese restaurants now, this is a place to avoid.

Sashimi is decidedly my go-to preference when in the mood for Japanese cuisine⦠and for me Matsu Sushi has consistently provided very good to excellent experiences. Most recently I dropped in for a late lunch / early dinner and ordered the Sashimi Deluxe entree which comes with a choice of salad or miso soup. I opted for the salad but all too often in Japanese restaurants these salads come drenched with too much dressing so I made a point of requesting minimal dressing. The response was a pleasant surprise; he brought the salad without any dressing plus a small bowl of dressing on the side so that I could personally add how much I wanted. Much appreciated. The sashimi entree was, as usual, excellent⦠an assortment of five different fish, including salmon and two different tuna choices⦠four large slices each, very fresh⦠and excellent presentation.I took my time, eating leisurely to truly enjoy my meal and my cup of hot green tea was refilled at least three times without having to ask. Decor is spacious, high-ceilinged, modern American style, with two very large maneki neko (âlucky catsâ) providing the only overtly Japanese ornamentation. Full liquor license.Bottom line⦠for sashimi lovers Matsu Sushi consistently provides a very good experience⦠food, service, ambiance.

The food here is off the charts. Amazing combinations, unique, yet familiar flavors to explore and a very knowledgeable staff. We've now been numerous times and love to go back for standby favorites that are always on the menu (chicken karaage, trout noodle dish) and to try whatever amazing creations have been added since our last visit.

The choice of different Japanese inspired dishes is impressive. The Sushi was very nicely prepared and the fish of good quality and fresh. Also, they have some unique appetizers. Service was very friendly. Even though the place was full to capacity it was not overly loud. No need to scream at each other at the table. Something which is desirable but not evident with todays closly packed eateries with poor sound damping insulation. Will definitely go back there.
