Chicken and steak are very good. I really liked the meat, chicken was the best. Large portions. 2 people can share a plate so it is a great value. Counter service was friendly and helpful, happy to explain the different veggies. Large selection of veggies, local fare.

Went to Waikele on 12/26 for some after Christmas shopping and then ate lunch there. The restaurant was crowded and has a waiting list but the line moved quickly. The waiters are efficient and fast in serving us drinks but they don't give leave a container of napkins and chopsticks on the table but instead only give each person one napkin and one pair of chopsticks which was really strange. May be they have a napkins and chopsticks being stolen problem or they are just really tight on the budget giving the lost time this year. The preparation of food is not very good.We order a few spicy bomb and the tuna is not cut well at all and has lots of tendons in it which makes it inedible. I took a photo with is one big piece of tuna with lots of tendon and we are not able to eat it at all. Also the mix vegetable tempura comes with mostly Kombocha tempura pieces with a giant piece at the bottom of the bowl. Really not flavorful at all. I would give it a below average since poor is a bit harsh but I don't think it deserves an average compare to other Genki we have been to. The store is very clean and efficient. Very good servers.

Our favorite go-to spot on Oahu for authentic Thai food made with love by Nom. She is an amazing cook who is also quite knowledgable about gluten free diets. It's located in a small strip mall, very unassuming but once you enter, prepare for the amazing blend of flavors that Nom blends into her incredible dishes. Red fish curry is a favorite. Medium spice will light you up! Her spring rolls, angry shrimp and Pad Thai are also ordered frequently by our family. She makes these amazing shrimp tempura but only in the weekends. Be sure to order some as you will be in for a real treat. It's BYOB and there is a 7-11 across the small parking lot to grab some beer or wine to cool down the spices. Nom and her husband Alan are very sweet and attentive. If you want the real deal authentic Thai, this is your place.

Located about 30 minutes north of Waikiki, in the Waipahu district, is a classic Filipino restaurant that serves whatever your imagine can conjure up. It is open everyday, 5:30am to 9:00pm. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall (Westgate Center)--you have to be looking for it at #116. Parking in front is free. We had the Adobe Pork and the Pancit Mix with a huge white rice bowl. Both were delicious and worth the 30 minute drive. Service was just just OK but not the friendliness waitresses in the world. The place was packed with customers (all Filipinos) so expect to wait a little while if you arrive at dinner time. Prices were inexpensive. Other than the entrees there is an All You Can Eat Buffett available for about $15 (4:30-9:00pm). The interior was shop worn and needs a basic cleaning. Half of the orders taken were take outs but tables are available for any size group.

Located in the heart of Waipahu in a strip mall off Farrington Highway, this decades old restaurant has been in a time warp with its vinyl booth seating, home style local Japanese foods and ohana atmosphere. Food is tasty, reasonably priced, and of good portions. Their specialty is the teishoku combination, allowing you to select between one and three main dishes such as sashimi, misoyaki butterfish, and chicken katsu. If you have room, desserts are a bomb with their ice cream pies, such as watermelon and kona coffee. Come night time and you get complimentary KTV entertainment from the loosely separated Kuni's lounge, which also offers the same menu when the restaurant side is crowded. Most mom-and-pop shops have faded into the sunset with the coming of the national chains. Home this place remains for decades to come, a local treasure.

The service was amazing and have zero complaints about this place. Very easy to find and the people there are awesome. The menu is smaller but goes to the point and was very good. The spicy level is really good and if youre a fan of heat then definately get it. No complaints about my visit here.

Tired of cooking every night and can't think of any new dishes to whip up? Take a night off and bring your loved ones to Restaurant Kunio. We are a family-friendly restaurant so your entire family is welcome! If you love Japanese food and fresh fish, Rest
My husband and I tried this place but were very disappointed. I specifically said âno shrimpâ in my soup due to an allergy. After two sips I quickly could tell it was shrimp broth. My throat started to close off! But compared to my husbandâs meal.... his dish came with a sharp piece of metal wire in it. Were they trying to kill us? Also... had to wait an hour for a meal we couldnât eat. We saw a plate of raw sushi sit on the sushi bar (someone elseâs order) in front of us for 30-40 minuets until they finally served it to the guy a few seats down from us. This place should be avoided.

I probably tried almost all their items but my fave is now the Kalbi. I love that theyâre bite size enough that you can have different varieties in one seating and not feel guilty hehehe. Itâs also fun sorting what flavor youâre getting. But they draw a legend on the box to identify the pieces.

Excellent sampling of Filipino food in Waipahu. We visited since my cousinâs name is Elena and we werenât disappointed. Guy Fiery recommended this place on Triple D and I would recommend it for fine Filipino fare. We opted for the buffet and enjoyed a little bit of everything. All you can eat Buffet for an adult at $11.50 is about as good as it gets in Hawaii. Give Elenaâs a try. You wonât be disappointed.

I was impressed. A family owned and run business. We were picking up catering for a business meeting. There was a line of folks out the door just getting their lunch. There were a dozen workers just on the counter. It was busy. Friendly and well run. Very impressed. Looks like a hole in the wall but i would call it a hidden gem!Love it. @nickellfamilytravel
