just returned September 2018 an amazing holiday made all the better by Nippon (SEE LANKA TRAVEL) who also has this restaurant . absolutely wonderful food all freshly cooked to order nothing ready made or frozen, had king prawn's in chilli and garlic and melt in the mouth steak, and very much value for money, would defiantly recommend this restaurant and indeed this company for you trips nothing was too much trouble and showed us the true Sri Lanka and its wonderful people

Very underwhelming. Was lured in by the high ratings but couldnât wait to get out leaving most of our meal as some of the ingredients were undercooked and inedible The owner hovered around making it more of an uncomfortable experience. Could hear the microwave in the background so the food would have just been warmed up not freshly cooked. Yes the food is cheap but definitely not worth it even at the cheap prices. To his credit the owner realised that we had left most of our food and bought a complimentary dessert and didnât charge service tax.

The Black Coral is renowned for its exceptional haute cuisine and fantastic selection of wines. A meal at this sophisticated fine-dining restaurant is an investment that wonât disappoint. It is situated at Jetwing Beach Hotel, Negombo.
do not, whatever you do, have the taster menu.7000rs (plus 25% tax and service charge), for food you cannot see, and there is barely enough on each course to taste.we found it to be very pretentious, black crockery, black lampshades with VERY low light levels.if the first bite of food is with your eyes, well, in this place you miss that bite!what we could see of it was a lot of style over substance.each course was eatable, and they did cater for me especially in that i cannot eat cheese, so altered a couple of dishes.none of the dishes would tempt me to go back and try a full version of them though, which , for a taster menu, would seem to be the point.the most ridiculous was that one meal, a tea infused chicken stock had, according to the menu, a cheese kebab.this turned out to be three very small cubes of cheese on a cocktail stick, on the side of the dish.service was patchy, different cutlery was brought out for each different course, well, for most of them, one course arrived without any cutlery at all, and we had to ask for it after delivery.aonther set was laid out differently for me than for my wife, on mine the fish knife was on the outside, on hers it was on the inside.service from the right was also sporadic at best.i am pretty sure that the food looked amazing, but in all honesty it was too dark to tell properly, the waiter even had to bring a torch to show us the menu, and other guests were using their mobile phones to illuminate their menus.Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your experience with us.We are sorry to read that you were faced with such incidents during your dining experience with us which we assure you that we will be looking into very seriously.Black Coral has always stood out in its category as a unique dining experience which is famous for its low-light ambient lighting while dining. Our staff always carries a torch in hand to assist guests with their meal preference who choose to be seated on the patio where the light is specially lowered to give out a more intimate yet refined experience. We are really sad to hear that our concept did not resonate with your expectations on this. As a restaurant that takes pride in our legendary service and hospitality, we will be looking into your comments on the complacency of our staff and failure to maintain attention to the fine details such as delivering meals without its cutleries. Our taster menu is focused on guests who would like to opt for a 6 course meal service and therefore the dishes served even though may seem small, its courses are designed and prepared to ensure that by the end of 6 courses would leave a guest satisfied. However, we take all our guests feedback seriously in order to provide a more refined service and experience to our guests, we will review our portions. We would always love to have you with us again and allow us to restore your faith in us and allow us to provide you with a more suitable experience to your expectations. If you would like to let us know more on your experience with us, you are always welcome to contact us directly.Ayubowan! (May you live long) LANKANTHA WIJESINGHE Restaurant Manager

We are here last night based on the high Tripadviser ratings and were not disappointed. I had the chicken biryani and y husband had the prawn curry with rice. Including the rice the prawn curry came with seven side dishes (dhal, salad, beetroot, potatoes, sambal, pumpkin, rice). My husband is not normally a fan of vegetarian dishes but he loved all the sides, so tasty. We will definitely be returning.

We arrived at lords and were struck very dingy dim lighting and rather strange ambience . Upon enquiry we were told that being offseason must of their busier restaurant areas were shut down . They offered us a table in a darkened area which we promptly declined - and finding ni alternative suitable places for our group we walked out and instead located Kamlos and ate thereDear Customer Thanks for visiting the leading number one restaurant complex in this region as voted by over 3500 travel reviews from delighted customers. We always welcome feedback and positive comments from OUR customers based on your experiences when dining with us. However on this occasion your PERSONAL 1 star review is totally unfair and NOT justified when you did NOT even stay to check out OUR delicious food and beverages â instead in your own words promptly declined the seating area and WALKED OUT !!During monsoon season in October/ November we open 4 different outlets inside Lords Complex (subject to weather) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only from 5pm to 11pm due to very low tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka at this time of year and especially after the Easter attacks. All other days we open from 1pm to 11pm serving from OUR very famous Batsman Restaurant outlet at the front area of the complex. How can you justify giving one stars when you have entered inside the complex and not found an area suitable to your PERSONAL requirements and walked out without trying OUR world famous delicious food and the special service style that customers rave about ⦠what a shame you did not communicate and reach out to us about your special request and we would have taken all steps to accommodate you in area that made you happy !!Martin Fullerton Owner- Lords Restaurant Complex Negombo

I read the reviews so seeked this place out as wanted some proper Sri Lankan food. A lot of places in Negombo serve mainly food you can get anywhere back home but this place was simple, tasty and friendly. Rohan was very chatty and friendly and he tried to make a time pleasurable. I tried the devilled fish curry which used fresh tuna steak was very yummy!

Tharanga Restaurant looks just one of restaurants adjunct to hotels.Exterior and interior are simple and its view is not impressive.Foods are good with various small dishes come along with main dish. I had fish curry rice and it was delicious with other assortment like pineapple, pumpkin, aubergine, etc. They donât accept credit cards so one must bring cash to dine there.
