Reviews on Asian food in Utrecht, Utrecht Province, The Netherlands. This ancient and historic city houses many buildings going back to the early Middle Ages. Until it was overtaken by Amsterdam in the Dutch Golden age, Utrecht was the most important city in the Netherlands. It was and still is the See of the Archbishop of Utrecht, the most important Catholic leader in the Netherlands. The University of Utrecht is the largest in the Netherlands. One of the unique features of the city is the wharf system in its inner canals. Before the city was fully canalized, parts of the Rhine River flowed through the city center. Most prominent of the historic buildings is the Gothic Cathedral of Saint Martin, the construction of which lasted for almost 200 year, beginning in 1254.

I'm still smelling of LE:EN. There's no pun intended here, but it is the case when visiting this bar and restaurant. Kitchen is Southeast Asia with a twist. Last time I ate grasshoppers here. But the air circulation is downright bad. Because of that you smell of cooking and it's cooking hot too. Very unfortunate.

Great place for brunch/lunch, with wonderful home made dishes close to the city center. Definitely worth the 5 minute walk from the center/train station. We ordered a smoothie bowl, eggs with spinach and salmon and a couple of cappucinos and it was all delicious.Highly recommended!

I was looking for a place for dinner after a business meeting, so I stopped in Saigon and I was immediately greeted with a friendly hello. All of the staff were incredibly welcoming, and I quickly ordered a tasty glass of Chardonnay and the coconut chicken curry. The curry was delicious, with fresh vegetables and ample chicken. The only issue I faced was towards the end of dinner, the ceiling started leaking on a large table of people in front of me. And then another leak started. And then another. I was worried the ceiling may come down due to the continuing leaks, so I quickly paid and got out of there. There was a torrential rainstorm outside, so perhaps it was an anomaly. I would still return if my travels take me back to Utrecht.

Overall it was a good experience. The options were plentyful and the food was good. At the beginning of the meal the server said that we would be "stuffed" by the end because it was a big meal but it was not as filling as we were expecting, though it was still satifying. There were a lot of flavorful dishes and we enjoyed almost all of them. We were just annoyed with how much ganish appaeard on some of the dishes. With the char siu, you couldn't even see the meat when they placed the dish down because it was just covered with bell peppers.Other than that, the tables were just a touch small for the size of plates they were serving on. I felt like they were overcompensating the portion sizes with garnish and larger plates.Aside from those details, we would still recommend this restaurant and would definitely go back!

Amazing vibe! This place is perfect for a group of friends wiling to share everything. The service was terrific and so was the food. You can choose Mexican, Vietnamese, Chinese and some Mediterranean/Lebanese. We tried a bit of everything and everything was perfect.Itâs a very busy place on the weekends, so arrive early (group under 6 is unlikely to get a reservation).

We re-visited this restaurant with high hopes. I used to eat in this restaurant a lot about 15-20 years ago when this was the top Indonesian restaurant in Utrecht. I am afraid that my experience this time was the complete opposite to the ones I have had previously, and this restaurant has definitely moved to the bottom place. We were shocked with the service and although the staff were friendly, they were totally out of there comfort zone and seemed unexperienced and unprofessional. I was very surprised that the quality level of food was so different than it used to be.We were extremely disappointed with the overall experience and I have made the following list of issues, some small and some big, but my main complaints are really about the food, which was extremely disappointing for me.We had different sate's for starters and for main course a small rijsttafel and Ikan Bali.1. The 35 euro's bottle of wine we ordered was put in a bucket of tap water without any ice, so the wine was at room temperature.2. The flowers on the table were fake and the table cloth was only a small strip covering the centre of the table.3. There was a mismatch of all different crockery and glasware.4. We had to wait about 50 minutes in between starters and main course.5. During our dinner there was a constant coming and going of food delivery moped drivers, which I found rather annoying as they pass the tables with large plastic bags and helmets on their way to deliver the food orders. This was I think the reason why there was a 50 minute wait between starter and main course. It felt that the food deliveries are almost more important than the dining guests in the restaurant.6.The sate ajam was very thinly sliced and totally bland, it didn't have the griddle/grill marks on it and wasn't marinated at all, the sate sauce on this was tasteless and very thin and watery.7. The very expensive sate kambing, normally my favourite, was definitely not goat as advertised, but instead a cheap shortcut was taken and thin slices of tough dry mutton was used, there was no doubt about it. This was my main issue of the evening as I felt being lied to.8. The ikan bali, mackerel in chili sauce, had a nice spicy flavour but the sauce was watery and the fish was dry, my question was how can mackerel be dry?9. The atjar tjampur was underpickled.10. The gado gado had a lot of watery beansprouts in it and again, the peanut sauce on top was thin and tasteless.I could live with all these complaints but for a bill of 114 euro's I feel that these complaints are valid.

This restaurant has amazing food! Itâs tiny, so reservations recommended... and the Chefâs Tasting Menu (vegetarian and vegan options available) was fantastic â 18 dishes to try! Sauces were rich and varied, service was friendly and informative. Dutch and English spoken fluently by all staff with smatterings of other languages.

Stayed in Utrecht for two nights and searched our phones for the nearest restaurant. This was it, and we have never had Asian Fusion before so didnât know what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised, the food was great . Even with chopsticks! They have English menus and all the staff , who were the friendliest Iâve come across in a long time spoke our language. All in all a wonderful new experience and when we return to Utrecht we shall come back to this restaurant.

A traditional Vietnamese Food Concept just as how you get in Vietnam: Street Food. The cuisine is famous of its spicy fresh and healthy characteristics. And don't forget, 95% of what we have to offer is gluten free!
Not great though. Working through $ eateries thereâs better Vietnamese though not in Utrecht at any price. The service was good though they are a bit understaffed given the steady flow of clientele. Itâs a small place with the ambience of what cafe used to mean. The few tables are divided between indoor and outdoor seating, the latter very agreeable on a warm Summer day/evening.
