Went tonight with family and friends. Basic furnishings but very in keeping with the surroundings. We sat by the beach. Ordered a selection of dishes and shared. They do give you the option of how much chilli you want.....unless you are native Thai I suggest asking for it mild to medium.....definitely not hot. Very cheap, very delicious and worth a second visit.

Sarang Korean Grill is located at the start of the main road into Surat Thani, just after Routes 401 and 417 meet, and just past and over the road from the Diamond Plaza Hotel (Srivichai Road).A little, unprepossessing place with, unfortunately, no English sign outside it, you could easily walk past it. My companion and I stumbled on it (he is Thai and so could read the sign, too) when we were overnighting in Surat Thani a year ago. This month we were doing the same thing and willingly returned, with a third person in tow.The place is both a coffee shop and a Korean BBQ grill, with the hotplate set up on your table. You are presented with a long list of available items to BBQ, mostly meats and seafood and you tick what you want. They *do* have a list in English, not just in Thai, and the male manager speaks English to help you. Your selection of meats etc comes in stacks of small plastic trays and you proceed to BBQ the items and eat them with a selection of salad greens, a coleslaw style of salad, Korean/Japanese salads (kimchi, seaweed strips etc) and various dipping sauces, from savoury to chilli hot. Each selected serving is small, but you can tick as many as you want, and go back for ore as many times as you want ... all for around THB 300 per head (say US$10).Service is speedy and efficient, taste is great, and value is absolutely tremendous. Not sure if they serve alcohol, but we took our own (no charge), and they have ice creams and I think some cakes for dessert.If you like BBQ'd food (and you can cook to your own style and with the range of items to select it would be very hard for someone NOT to find something to suit their tastes), this is the place for you, especially at this price. I simply do not know how they make a profit, but as they have lasted at least one year I guess they must. No idea if they take bookings, but the place seems to get pretty full. Like most provincial towns, you need to get there early evening as places close faorly early.

We stayed near this restaurant and ate here 3 times. The food is great and much cheaper than our hotel, the service is spot on and restaurant has a great atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and helpful, happily recommending dishes when asked. Full range of food available, served quickly and freshly cooked. Highly recommended

Facing towards the river, this is the best restaurant in town. Owned and managed by charming, English speaking young "Yai", this ten year old restaurant has a slick and snappy decor with great food at very modest prices. The pizza is the best in Southern Thailand and the Passion Fruit & Mango Smoothie is the stuff of dreams. The tastiest Pad Thai in the Province and the crispiest of crispy Spring Rolls. Great environment whether you chose to sit inside with A/C or outside garden with fresh air. Great dishes with reasonable price. A portion a bit small but the services is great! Have been there many times and always enjoying the atmospheric of it. Little bit far from town but once you getting there you won't be disappointed.

If you want to have something locally with resonable price at samui island, I suggest you to try on this one. The taste is accepted.The service is good, Staffs are on smile. They have plenty of parking lot with easy to discover. If you canât take a spicy food, just tell them because some menus are more spicy than usual.

Another great evening at Secret Garden Restaurant. We are always impressed with the food, the service and the wonderful beach-side atmosphere. It's very close to our home, so we often drop by for a coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner -- or just for a drink as the sun goes down. Owners Rik and John have done a great job with the restaurant, and maintained the standards since they took over Secret Garden, and it's a favourite spot of ours...almost like a second home.Whether you opt for western or Thai food you won't be disappointed.
