We went during lunch on a weekend to celebrate a family member's BD. Waiting stuff was not exactly the paragon of hospitality, but hibachi chef put on quite a show. He was great. The food was good and reasonably priced (note it was lunch). In addition to hibachi, we ordered some sushi and it was very good. In summary, we had a nice experience and may be back for a repeat visit.

Stony Brook University has a large population of Chinese-American students and here is where they come. Food is cheap with a wonderful range of dishes from noodle-based soups to more standard Chinese takeout. Love the hot and sour soup. Love the braised beef noodle soup. Pickup service is fast and friendly. All dishes are very good but perhaps not superb always. But usually you can't go wrong. Did I mention General Tso's chicken? Another top dish.

Slurp Ramen offers a fresh twist on Japanese soul food. We specialize in authentic Japanese Ramen, Rice Bowls, Buns & Salads.
So this was my first time having restaurant Ramen. I've actually made it myself several times (thank you pinterest) and wanted to see what I can do better. I really enjoyed my spicy Ramen that I ordered, but I wasn't blown away. I did try a Ramen egg from my best friend's original Ramen bowl, and really enjoyed that- wished I had gotten some on my own dish, actually. In general, it was tasty and flavorful but nothing terribly special. It's a little pricey in my opinion. I enjoyed my food, but would try other restaurants in the area before going back.

This "Japanese" restaurant, like many others, is not run by Japanese owners. This clearly shows how sushi and sashimi are prepared and presented. Cold atmosphere, average service, and small sake selection.

I love this place. Might be the best Chinese restaurant on Long Island. The soup dumplings are outstanding. The spicy pork, scallion pancakes are delicious. The Spicy Flounder Hunan style is fantastic. Service is great and the prices are reasonable. Did I mention that I love this place?

Tucked away in a little shopping mall in Saint James, my wife and I believe that Ancient Ginger is the best Chinese restaurant on Long Island. We've been going there for years, and we've always found the food to be consistently delicious and the portions plentiful. The management, the waiters, and waitresses have changed over the years, but it seems that whoever is cooking back in the kitchen has been there all along. Our favorite dish? The Yellow Prawns!

I have been dining at Tai Show for 6+ years now and every time I go there I am amazed at the quality of the food. From the deep-fried oysters (Never greasy!), to the tuna tataki (EXCELLENT) to the excellent service and wonderful atmosphere with private booths available. I have tried other restaurants closer to my home. Midori was recommended to me, but I tried it twice now and both times left disappointed. The food is just okay and it was way too noisy for a nice sit-down dinner. I also tried Wasabi Japanese Restaurant in Miller Place. Again, the food was just okay. Nice staff there, but I am looking for very good sushi and this didn't match Tai Show. If you want really good Sushi, you must go to Tai Show in East Setauket. You won't be disappointed, I promise you.MaryRocky Point.

This restaurant is across the street from the Stony Brook campus. The students from SUNY flock there and I always try to order what looks yummy on their tables. I have been delightfully surprised with the non-traditional dishes.

The service was terrible. We couldn't really communicate with half of the staff, we were talking to them and they walked away, we couldn't understand what they were saying, while we were eating one of the waiters was banging some plates behind our backs. Food was OK.

High ceilings, fantastic fish tank, wonderful interior which âtransportsâ you to a local village in korea is what youâll find at Ssambap. The food is delicious! The bulgogi for the on-the-table barbecue was so tender and the marinade was unbelievable. And it came with lettuce wraps, rice, bean paste, peanut paste, scallions, radish. The vegetable mandoo soup was was tasty, and the assortment of banchan was incredibleâ-kimchee, cucumbers, broccoli, tofu, and bean sprouts. My bibimbap was perfectâ bulgogi, rice, chili sauce, mixed vegetables, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, fried egg, and avocado (7!) was delicious except there was very little meat (as opposed to the huge amounts I received with the barbecue. Definitely a top five restaurant in the Smithaven Mall area!!
