Located on the North Santiam River, Stayton is a regional agricultural and light manufacturing center. The population was 7,644 at the 2010 census. Established in 1872, it was incorporated in 1891. Stayton is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area.

There is something about eating in a converted gas station that either feels right or might rather be an omen of what's to come. I have a very demanding palate and I know what's good and what's not. Mashita Teriyaki is one of those places that is a dichotomy - a place where you set your standards low and are pleasantly surprised when they are surpassed. If your looking for great Japanese sushi or teriyaki you'll be disappointed however, if you just want to satisfy your taste for this type of food you be may find what you're looking for. Best to order take-out - there is no atmosphere.

Red Apple is a family run restaurant with a separate bar area. The food is delish! We've only eaten the Chinese food but they serve American as well. The portions are Large! Prices are quite reasonable. We have never been disappointed with our meal or our service here. It's not much to look at from the outside, so don't let that be your deciding factor to eat here!
