Reviews on Asian food in St. Albans, England, United Kingdom. St Albans /sənt ˈɔːlbənz/, /seɪn ... / is a city in Hertfordshire, England, and the major urban area in the City and District of St Albans. It lies east of Hemel Hempstead and west of Hatfield, about 20 miles (32 km) north-northwest of central London, 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Welwyn Garden City and 11 miles (18 km) south-southeast of Luton. St Albans was the first major town on the old Roman road of Watling Street for travellers heading north, and it became the Roman city of Verulamium. It is a historic market town and is now a dormitory town within the London commuter belt and the Greater London Built-up Area.

We were looking for somewhere for a Saturday evening meal while staying at Hatfield House and found the Golden Elephant. So glad we did. The food was excellent, service swift, efficient and friendly and everything reasonably priced. Many of the others customers were obviously regulars which is always a good sign. If you don't know the area it's a bit hard to find as the satnav takes you up the side street to the back gate which you can't get through. It's off the High Street, opposite St Helen's Church but DON'T go up Granary Close, go up the drive next to the white house with black paint about 20 feet away and this will take you into the private car park. It's a pity we don't live closer as it's well worth a visit.

Service was slow and unfortunately our friend had a dead moth in her appetizer. They apologized profusely, but when I asked if they could do us a good price on the Amarone (on which I suspect they are making £50 margin) he said no and didnât offer anything else. It wasnât about the money, just wanted to be offered something. If heâd have knocked a tenner off, they would have still made more profit than the next wine I chose and Iâd have been happy. Poor service, no creativity and dirty food. Other than that, great menu. What a shame

I went here last night. Although the food was good, it was highly obvious that they're more interested in fulfilling their take away orders than dealing with the customers that are actually sitting in their restaurant. Had to wait nearly an hour for our starters. In the end they gave us some free prawn crackers as we kept asking when our food was coming. Thai rack, you need to sort your act out!Sorry for your disappointment. Thank you for your valuable comment. We will try to improve our services.

We eat a lot of Indian food, indeed we live in India 2 months of the year. I can honestly say my meal was as good if not better than anything I have had before. The pickle tray was great, much more choice than most restaurants and the poppadoms were lovely and light and crispy. I had a simple chicken tikka with a madras sauce on the side with pilau rice and nan. It was all excellent.Staff were very helpful and friendly.Very highly recommended

An award winning restaurant in the heart of St.Albans serving fresh and authentic Bangladeshi & Indian food.An extensive range of beers, wines and sprites. Popular with couples as well as large groups.
We have been to the Chilli Bar on a number of occasions, and never been disappointed with the food and the service. As my previous review will confirm.Tonight was the polar opposite. We had a table booked for 8pm, we arrived 5 minutes early and shown to our table which was right in the middle of the restaurant. From this promising beginning we were expecting a good meal, after 20 minutes we were still sitting and waiting for a menu and someone to offer us drinks and poppadoms. We eventually asked a passing waiter for a couple of menus, he bought these over and said âIâll get someone to take your order for drinks âAfter being ignored for another 15 minutes we stood up and left, not challenged by anyone on the way out.Very disappointing Chilli BarHello Andrew Iâm sorry to learn of your disappointment at the level of service you received. As you will agree this is highly unusual. Please do contact me directly at [email protected] so that I can investigate this further.Kind regards Kashim

Mon lunch take away - rice was missing, nan was missing, poppadom was missing - starter looked more like microwaved left overs - laughableDear DS,We would like to thank you for taking the time to leave a feedback regarding your takeaway from Veer Dhara, St. Albans. Unfortunately, on this occasion, we are unable to trace your order. It is indeed laughable and rather shocking to learn how could three items be missed in a single takeaway. Can you please confirm if you made any attempt to reach the restaurant to inform about the missing items? Your review was published on TripAdvisor on Monday 16th September 2019, when we received no takeaway order during the lunch hours. I've also investigated and gone through the CCTV footage of the previous two Mondays (2nd September and 9th September) but have no missing items on record. Can you please confirm on which date and how your order was placed? If it was placed over the phone or via our website (www.veerdhara.com) or if it was placed via Deliveroo. We pride ourselves as being the busiest Indian takeaway in St. Albans and fulfil more than 400 orders each week. We endeavour to maintain the highest standards and take complaints very seriously. Please get in touch with me on 07771156789 (whats app) or [email protected] and confirm your order details. Upon the receipt of same, I am happy to process a full REFUND against the takeaway order you've placed. Regards,Darshit [email protected]

We visited The Alban on 20th July for a family get together for my son's 21st Birthday. We were a group of 9 with various dietary requirements (2 vegans and 2 vegetarians) and tastes. I posted decorations to The Alban that week and they were happy to put them up and they were also happy for me to bring a birthday cake which they stored whilst we were eating. Everyone was in agreement that the food was amazing and it was also very reasonably priced. The restaurant is a family run business and they couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. Fabulous service!Thank you for your visit and lovely review. We're pleased you and the family enjoyed your visit to The Alban. We work hard behind the scenes to make it work for our patrons. Please do continue to recommend to friends and family alike. We hope to serve you again in the near future. Warm regards, The Alban
