Very expensive restaurant! We went to this restaurant for dinner and it was the most expensive meal we bought on our holiday in Japan. Afterwards i was still hungry and bought some steamed apple buns from the street afterwards. Its a BBQ style restaurant where you cook your own food which made it even more dumbfounding that it was so expensive as they don't have to cook your food.We got the Genghis Khan special where you get some meat and 3 vegetables which were 2 different types of sprouts and some onion and it is not nearly enough to fill up an adult. There are extra vegetables that you can add but they come at a price andthere are lots of little charges that add up to a big bill at the end for a family of 4. For example: 300 yen table charge per person, a service tax, 380 yen for a spice set which is basically salt and pepper with some lemon. We spent around 13 000 yen and were very dissatisfied with how expensive the meal was. The food was ok however as mentioned before the portion sizes were too small and the cost is way way too high especially considering how cheap and tasty some of the other traditional Japanese restaurants you can visit in Nozawa Onsen.

Our group of eight friends enjoyed our dinner at Tsukushimbo. We were squeezed into a corner booth which was ok but some of the group were perched on low stools, a challenge for tired bodies after a day of skiing!Tsukushimbo is very small so booking ahead would be advised. The food was good without being exceptional. There is lots of variety on the menu. The night we were there the place was buzzing with several large groups of family and friends which gave the place a feel of happy organised chaos!

Warm atmosphere great for cold winter evening, fantastically friendly staff, and extremely good food experience. Whilst it can be busy and squishy, it also feels warm and cosy.We loved or at least liked everything we tried. Note to book in advance.

Toyo Ramen is located in the basement at a popular street junction. The menu is fairly simple with a small selection of ramen and side dishes. We had the miso, shoyu and spicy ramen bowls, all of which came in steaming hot giant bowls. Perfect meal after a day of skiing. You have the option of adding chopped garlic to the soups, which is a nice addition. We also ordered all of the sides, including gyoza, fried calamari. All of these were excellent. My mouth is watering as I type!

The food here was fantastic. Ordered a bowl of the dumpling soup, it was sensational, we ordered a second bowl! I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, which was 'so-so', which is expected as this isn't a ramen restaurant, so I'd go for a different option. Everyone else in our group raved about their food.

We had a very nice modern Japanese dinner here. The mixed mushrooms; salmon and fried tofu were great. The meals ordered by tables around us were also very appealing. The styling of the interior was exceptional. The staff were very helpful and very engaging. It became a regular spot for my morning coffee.

Nice little restaurant with a seating area with tatami mats and tables where you have to take your shoes off and a bar area where you can sit and watch the sushi being prepared. Mostly traditional sushi on the menu that is freshly made and tastes great. Reasonably priced and can get busy.

We had lunch at Daimon after searching for any restaurant opening during summertime. Daimon is only few of restaurant open when we visit Nozawaonsen. Price is moderate and quality is good. They have soba and udon but soba is their specialty, either cold soba or hot soba. The place is not that big with five or six tables available, but it is clean and neat. Located rather hidden from main road. Recommended for lunch at Nozawa onsen.

We dined here with 2 families of 4 and everyone loved it. The food was faultless and reasonably priced. Its difficult in Nozawa (in January at least) to get restaurants for 8 people so try to book in advance. We popped our head in a couple of days before and secured a booking.
