Have been here a few times and am always pleasantly surprised by the quality of his fish and his inventive appetizers. We had a quartet of Kumamoto Oysters with a delicious dashi mignonette, octopus salad, yellowtail over soba, and a while mackerel (pictured). All delicious. Also a mix of sushi and sashimi of excellent quality. This is no compromise place, itâs as good as anything youâd find in the city. We're delighted to keep pleasantly surprising you, Robert. Thank you for the wonderful review! We hope to see you again soon.Warm wishes,Sushi Mike's

Off Route 9W.
Hinode is a gem of a Japanese restaurant. It is small but clean and attractive inside. Sushi & sashimi are excellent, very fresh. Other dishes - tempura, udon noodles, eel-rice (unadon, one of my favorites) - are also very good. Become a regular and get known by the chef/owners and they tend to welcome you with a complimentary amuse-bouche or special sushi roll (the tempura shrimp roll is great!) - a nice treat that makes you feel special. My family and I have visited annually in April for the last 10+ years on our vacation trip from RI to Phil to visit family and Hinode is a highlight of the trip. My kids always look forward to this tasty respite

Surprisingly good!ive been leaving on hastings for over 10 years and always sobbing the local restaurants but this restaurant was a pleasant surprise! I went because invited for a farewell dinner: Service excellent, waiters super nice, kids friendly, fast service, and honestly good Jap cuisine. Try the Tina Tatako!
Food was delicious, place was clean and inviting, Jack the owner was friendly and took time to explain to us what the sauces were and how the food was cooked. Will definitely return and try the other dishes.Nice to have a good neighborhood restaurant . Good Luck to them!
Most Popular Bar food in Northvale, New Jersey, United States
Passed by this place numerous times on my bike. It used to be a bar which was a bit run down. I'm pretty adventurous, so I thought I would stop in for dinner at the newly converted establishment. I wasn't disappointed. The interior was totally redone. People were very friendly and attentive. The place was pretty crowded and we were one of 2 other non-Korean families there (a good sign!). Our waitress was very helpful and attentive and the food was fantastic. I would definitely go back with a Korean friend to get his take on it. I suspect this place will do quite well!
Where to eat American food in Northvale: The Best Restaurants and Bars
On a recent Saturday night only one other table was taken at this basic BYOB storefront near the NY state border. The service was fine but the menu was somewhat limited, a bit too bland and rather expensive, I thought. The 3 others I dined with liked the food better than I did.
Got to Northvale too early for visit with relatives, so had lunch along Livingston Street at Bamboo in the mall. Just didn't like the upscale blah interior right from the start. Long narrow room with wicked high ceilings and pipes exposed. Dark colors and in need of more artwork or something. That said, the food was really good. The Northvale roll consists of shrimp tempura, avacado, cuke, spicy tuna, spicy mayo and tempura crunch. It was excellent. I had the volcano which had kanikama (imitation crab), avocado, cuke, spicy shrimp, masago (a small fish used in sushi) and melted mozzerella. Also made expertly and delicious. Our miso soup was very good and the garden salad, mostly with arugala was great. All in all, a good meal.
