Amina touts itself as the only Halal Thai restaurant in Rockville. The owner, a woman who's recognizably dressed as a devout Muslim but, perhaps, less recognizably Thai, is friendly and in charge. The menu looks pretty much the same as most Thai restaurants'. My chicken panang curry was tasty and crunchy with peanuts...an excellent lunch with plenty leftover for dinner later.

In our ideal restaurant classic vegetarian dishes would be made from locally grown organic produce effused with Indian and Nepalese spices. Meats would be cooked high over hot charcoal in a tandoor (a traditional clay oven) allowing fats to drain, thereby
We tried this restaurant for a second time after nearly a year since our last visit. It was somewhat disappointing relative to a year ago. We tried the appetizer plate which was very good but the cilantro sauce was vinegary and relatively bland. The main entrees were all good but nothing out of the ordinary. The service was attentive and friendly, although admittedly there were few clients in the dining room. Options for alcoholic beverages are fairly limited with a few low end wines by the glass and a selection of beers. Decent place for Nepalese and Indian food but not inspired.

Many Chinese restaurants offer dim sum (small plates of Chinese delicacies) only on weekends. But this place offers it also on weekdays. What makes it even better is that on weekdays, they make it to order, so that what you get is very freshly made dishes. You can make a meal out of the different dishes. The sweet sesame ball is especially light and yummy, smelling as if it just came out of the oven. Service this time was excellent.Try it.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. Like other "build your own" places, each of us got a slightly different order, but everyone thought their meal was delicious. And there was unlimited complimentary miso soup, too! A great find for a warm and inexpensive meal.

I've dined here a couple of times. Coming from Houston, there are a lot of really good Pho shops. The broth and the meat here is just very average. The broth doesn't have much depth and I would be surprised if they actually make it from scratch. Also, I always get a large bowl for about $9. The bowl is very large but I don't feel like there are enough noodles and I am never quite full after eating it.

Mandalay has been one of our favorite restaurants for 15 plus years when it started in the College Park Donut Shop before it moved to Silver Spring.Family run..food consistently great and nice portions.Good Service. Full bar We always start with a green mango salad. I love the yellow beans with scallions and rice. My husband gets their famous wide noodle dish...similar to chow fung with chicken. Leftovers are carried home to be enjoyed a second timr.Fun to have each person try something different so you can share and try new dishes@ Dessert is a must..Shweji..a Burmese speciality cream of wheat, raisins, coconut milk..served warm.Put this on your Must try list when in the DC /Silver Spring/ Montgomery county area. You won't be sorry!! We came from DE to.go since we were in the area! They recently opened up a burmese salad place in DC on Wisconsin and M Street.

While reading about restaurants in Rockville, I came across this restaurant. At the spur of the moment, we decided to drive to Rockville and give it a try.At 10:00 am, there were only 2 customers at the restaurant. We ordered the Lechon Belly and Chorizo-Itlog combo dishes. Both include white rice, pickled papaya and fountain drink. The cost per dish is $11.59.Both combo dishes were delicious, skins of the pork belly were crispy. Not impressed with the sausage! We also bought siopao, fresh lumpia, $(6.99) Biko, bicho-bicho ($2.25) and another donut for our take home.Notes: There are NO hot beverages offered at this restaurant, only cold beverages! Not having any hot tea before we left the house, this was an issue for me! Hope they'll have a hot water dispenser next time we visit it.This restaurant does catering. During our visit, there were many customers picking up their orders. Per Jen, the Owner, they need at least 2-3 days advanced notification for these orders. We'll visit it again and try their other dishes. Highly recommended! Would have given it a "5" had there been HOT beverages!

This was our 1st time here. We were in the neighborhood for an Oil Change and decided to have a Thai Lunch. Found this place on google. We arrived at 1:15PM on a Sunday in mid Dec. Only 1 party present so we were seated immediately. We ordered the Tom Yum soup with chicken, the Drunken Noodle & the Chicken with Cashew. There was lots of chicken & mushrooms in the soup, it came out Hot & spicy, very good!. The Drunken Noodles came out HOT and delicious. The chicken with cashews had plenty of cashews & sauce which was great with rice. All in all a great lunch except that they charge for soda refills. It would have nice if the server told us.

I had wanted a light Japanese lunch in anticipation of a heavy dinner. And this place did not disappoint. I ordered the sashimi bento and it was just right in amount and tasty in quality. The food was fresh and well presented. The decor too is interesting. I sat in a booth with the side to the wall that had what looked like a metallic patina--it's actually ceramic tiles. I know because I had a table with that surface once.Nice.
