Things to do in Mount Vernon
First impression: the interior is so pretty and cute, this can't be a restaurant. Looks more like cafe in upscale neighborhood. Was too busy taking in all the little details to eat. Not only do they have teriyaki & pho, but sushi AND Korean tofu soups & bibimbap.

Went there as someone said it was good. The owners were not friendly and it was way overpriced. You didn't get your money's worth and the food was not very good.

Based on no below average reviews, I decided to try them. We had vegetable chow mein, sweet and sour prawns and beef broccoli. Food is acceptable but not special. Good for the lunch specials.

Pho was great, but the sushi was a bit pricey for what you get. We had a shake and they don't use real 'fruit' like in some places. They use powder. They were really good about remaking the shake without the fructose syrup.

I recently went for a quick lunch and ordered the steak salad. The dressing was pungent and flavorful with noted fish sauce and lime juice. My complaints about the salad were the overly chewy steak (full of gristle) and the limpish iceberg lettuce. Flavors were good, but the quality of ingredients should have been better. Will return because I love Thai food and am happy to try other dishes there! Good service and the waitress cheerfully brought my check early when I could see that I was waiting a bit long for lunch hour food service. For lunch, I will phone in my order next time.

What a nice addition to downtown MV--looks industrial, like a dentist office or insurance agency from the outside, but inside it's tastefully swank. We went for one of the BBQ combos, an interesting experience you have to do once (kids will be entertained) but on future visits I would definitely skip it for the other side of the menu wherein composed dishes are prepared in the kitchen. If you enjoy spicy, complex, full-flavored food, this is the best way to experience Korean food. I would caution the restaurant against rushing diners, however. In our case, dining at 4 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon when only two other tables were occupied, they started out BBQ before we were done with our appetizers. We weren't in a hurry and getting a little slammed on the timing did not improve our experience. Oh, and beer is the only alcohol served. I realize it's traditional, but wine would be nice for those of us who can't drink beer.

We were staying in a cabin about 9 miles out of the city limits...and we decided we all wanted to have Chinese food...one of those weird cravings at the last minute. We looked up Chinese in Mount Vernon and found the Hong Kong Restaurant was rated #1 so we decided to give it a shot. The outside of the building is not really appealing, almost like it wants to look like a run down tavern. My wife orders the food for three (3) to go, and it came out quickly, and all of the food order was correct. We got home, kicked back to relax and eat. Food was excellent, honey walnut prawns covered in a great sauce with just the right amount of walnuts. Sweet and sour chicken had the perfect crunchy, but not too crunchy texture, and the sauce was the perfect tangy taste. Chicken Chow mien was great, as were the appetizers of BBQ pork. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for dinner in Mount Vernon.

About 30 of us gathered in the big room on the Freeway end of the restaurant. See prior reports for consistency of service and quality. As usual, an Asian buffetlaid out in comfortable setting. Steam tables were filled and ready for our group. Not mentioned previously was the presence of a large grill where stir-fry of selectedmeats and vegetables is available. I have not tried this grill. The items on the steam tables were of quality appearance, and those I sampled were tasty. There is also a salad bar, a fruit and desert bar, and a small sushi/sashimi station. The soft-serve ice-cream machine was not operating tonight. There are "American" items also in the steam tables. Over all a good experience. There was one disappointment: The men's Restroom which needs a remodel.....

We found this place by reading the other TripAdvisor reviews and decided to try it. As is often the case with more economical Chinese restaurants, ambience and decor were not high priorities - at first I wondered if maybe we'd made a mistake. We had not. This little diamond in the rough served some of the best Chinese food we've had in years! The hostess was very helpful assisting us to choose a balanced set of dishes. Don't miss the Singapore curry rice noodles, we lapped them up (I am a curry fan and am rather particular, and this was a really outstanding dish.) We also enjoyed a sizzling seafood stir fry, a garlic chicken dish (I can't remember their exact names) and an appetizer cup of wonton soup - all were expertly prepared. I'm glad we ordered way more food than we could eat because I'm looking forward to polishing off the leftovers tonite. Yum!

This was a good pick for a different dinner option. Japanese food, not just sushi, with options like veggie noodle bowls. Nice hot sake for a reasonable price. LOVED the sesame spinach (it's warm and has a delicious light dressing). The staff were very attentive and helped me to find the best gluten-free options on the menu. (There are plenty of options with rice noodles and rice instead of wheat noodles). We are both also vegetarians and there were plenty of veggie choices. My husband had a tempura noodle bowl. I had a veggie stir fry with rice. It was a all fresh and warm. Very good for such a small town.
