We passed by this restaurant on our first night in Aix-en-Provence, but could not eat there because we did not have a reservation and the restaurant was small and full that night. We booked for the next night and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the fish. We had a generous entree of tempura and sashimi that was very good. My boyfriend had the Korean BBQ and enjoyed it. The waitress worked in Montreal and we thought the quality of this Japanese restaurant did resemble that of many good sushi place in our city. We recommend this restaurant if you need a break from French cuisine and want good quality sushi, but be sure to make a reservation.

As many people feel when in France, the food is fabulous but once in a while you need something small, tasty and familiar. Japanese hits the spot. Koi reviews very well but be prepared for a chaotic time. Teppanaki bar only holds about 16 people so book. Itâs a set menu (â¬42) with a couple of choices for Mains (prawns or steak - we chose one each and shared) and Desserts from the A la Carte menu. Too much food. Be hungry. Japanese beer is a great accompaniment. The Chef is a showman and cooks a few meals at one go, so you get to see the demonstration a few times. Heâs happy for you to take photos/videos. Lots of families there. It was a Saturday night, so the place was buzzing. Many people were turned away. The food is good not great - straightforward at a reasonable price.

I was very happily surprised with this lovely place. Don't miss it, you will love it and you will probably also meet the lovely owner who runs this place - Bonnie. I have found this charming coffee while strolling streets of Aix en Provence. It is a bit hidden from the busy places and that gives it the specific charm. There is a little square with nice tables just outside the coffee, I wasn't sure at first they belong to the coffee but Bonnie - the owner, assured me that thay do. I have had an amazing salade with quinoa and boulgour and delicious Fraisier cake. Come and enjoy the charm of Aix in this place.

Excellent sushis and each dish is beautifully presented, great work of the chef and great service. I am Japanese myself and it is hard to find a authentic Japanese restaurant but I recommend Izumi and this is the only Japanese restaurant that I go in aix!

The place is very small but the food is wonderful; as far as I know, it's the only restaurant where you can eat Ramens in the region. The staff is cool though quite difficult to understand since they have a strong Japanese accent. We were served quite quickly and the meals were all delicious and succulent.BUT (!) if you're vegetarian, you'll only one or two possibilities to eat. And, children don't have a special meal which is a pity because young children generally don't like raw fish for instance...

J'ai diné à cet endroit et je trouve qu'il mérite d'être référencé sur votre site
No English menu but the friendly French waiter spoke English. We had a decent and cheap Luberon cave de Bonnieux red for 9 euros! The red curry chicken, vegetable vermicelli rolls and chicken spring rolls were all good.Apparently the chef is Cambodian although born in France.Worth a visit.

A very unusual restaurant, most of the seating downstairs, stair case is quite steep. A nice warm atmosphere and pleasant staff who were very helpful with the selection of dishes. We found the food to be really tasty, nicely presented, care obviously taken. The only negative we found was what to order as everything looked so good. We thought it was incredibly good value. Would definitely return and recommend.

The handmade dim sums of the restaurant les Pâtites bouchées are the best Iâve ever tasted, as simple as that. The experience was so great my boyfriend and I decided to go back there during our 5 days stay in Aix en Provence. The menu offers many different flavours (good to know: they have veggie options!). As we couldn't choose, we decided to try them all. Although those little wonders enclosed within those treasure boxes are equally delicious, my favourites remain the chicken and lime dim sums. The flavours that come out of these steamed dumplings are extraordinary. We took 2 different sides the first day: my boyfriend had a perfectly seasoned beef tataki and I opted for the green cabbage salad. The second day we went for the mango and papaya salad, that was just fantastic. Their sweet and sour taste gave the perfect match to what we ordered. Each bite brings an explosion of exotic flavours. All of this was accompanied by a fantastic wine suggested by the waitress and owner of the restaurant. Then, came the matcha green tea panna cotta, which is beyond of just being a dessert. It was heaven. Not only the food was insanely delicious but the tasteful and elegant decor of the restaurant brought something truly special to our dinner. I encourage anyone to go visit this lovely space and live the same unforgettable experience we had.

Enjoy the restaurant Ajito and its Japanese cuisine in a beautiful hidden setting: the quiet village of Tholonet located on the edge of the Provencal capital of Aix-en-Provence, at the foot of the Sainte-Victoire so dear to the heart of Paul Cézanne.
This is on the edge of Aix-en-Provence and convenient if you are coming or going and don't want to pay to park in the central area. There is street parking nearby. The food was fresh and lovely. I had a bento box and DH had a rice bowl. The place was crowded with locals yet service was prompt. It was a nice change of pace to have a different cuisine for lunch.
